Personally, I welcome more competition in Vegas. I don't care whether the owner is tribal or not, as long as it's fresh blood.

Agreed.

The article goes on to say:

San Manuel’s purchase of Palms is one of several moves by tribes in Las Vegas. Mohegan Sun currently runs the casino at Virgin Las Vegas, and we’ve shared the rumor the Seminoles are expected to purchase Bally’s.

I do agree competition is the best thing for Las Vegas. On the other hand while most Indian run casinos don't have great odds for their games they are still better than some of the big names like Caesars and MGM Resorts.

We liked playing at PALMS, partly because of the good VP payback tables (I got two RF's on the same day there once, woot woot). And also partly because of the atmosphere. I liked that even before the remodeling.

It is also nice having the food court to get a snack or a Smoothie from McD, I like the Mango/Pineapple one mixed with a shot of Tequila.

Any chance this will make RIO up their game ( payback tables ) a bit ? I guess that is a silly question, Probably Not.

Another Indian run casino.

So what?
It’s not like the property is on tribal land.

They need to run it like any other commercial business and without that sovereign nation stuff.

No offense. I like the idea of different owners rather than the same old group. It was more of a comment in that the Virgin casino was also connected to a tribe and for Vegas this is a new trend in the Indian tribes have taken an interest as of late.

Well if VPFREE2 is up to date, Mohegan Sun ( the old Hard Rock ) is not making much of a splash at least with their VP selection:

99.11% DB: $1
98.98% DDB: $1
98.91% LV Airport/Illinois Deuces: $1
98.6103% SDDB: $1
98.49% Bdlx: $1
98.45% JoB: $1
98.39% JoB: $1
98.15% TDB: $1, $5, $10, $25
98.01% BP: 25¢, 50¢, $1, $5, $10, $2

That's the question I had.............since I reside in a casino tribal jurisdiction.........LOL

As long as they are not buying the land and trying to turn it into sovereign nation land after the requisite years, it's OK.............BUT.........IF.............the alternative, not sure that's a great thing.........

I think tribes having non tribal casinos could be a good thing. If they mistreat players at their tribal casinos it could possibly hurt their business in the non tribal locations.
Maybe just wishful thinking on my part.

This is different, but it's the only thing we have to compare it to really. I noticed places like Harrah's on Indian land seem to do less mistreating. Whatever the case, I think it will be a good thing overall.

It'll be interesting to see what pay tables they offer. The table games at San Manuel Casino in California are (were?) all full pay, such as a Pair Plus flush paying 4 to 1 for 3CP. Video poker pay tables, on the other hand, are only decent. Oddly, despite having more floor space than the MGM Grand, there's only around 25 machines in the place.
Have you tried 22 tonight? I said 22.
