I dont know why but I feel magic has a hidden dependency within the gambling/gaming industry yet i dont know if its acknowledged or even mentioned ever here. I have frequently come across people who are influential in the gaming industry that are deeply involved in magic as well. Magic is highly dependent on math. I like magic and will be hopefully posting more random stuff about magic.

Im really excited because my SO is getting really nervous that I am getting into magic, which makes it even better.

Magic like illusions? Magic like the card game? Magic like wizards?

The root of this post comes from something called "The ten card deal dossier"

Where people have made unbeatable sequences that build up suspense which can be controlled by the player which include wins but end but being a complete loss to unbelievable hands.

I have one post based on this before but it was asking if anyone could retrieve this book, and as of this point I believe this trick to be the most valuable trick to ever exist. And this is because of the difficulty in finding the specific book quoted above. There are performers who perform it to this day, but the math behind it, which many people have contributed to, is something I am interested in finding out about more. I believe its one of those "holy grail" or "keys" to something that will unlock something more valuable that is possibly happening today.

I believe what I believe because of how hard it is to retrieve this specific book. you cant find it, although you can find a variation of the book, but the variation i speak about actually references the ten card deal dossier.

It also might be impossible to obtain the book because apparently the guy who wrote the book normally writes in feather and ink and doesnt trust computers (im in it and understand why) and only had a number of copies produced from a publisher.

I choose to believe my imagination besides that last statment thank you very much

Much of what people in the middle ages thought was magic is easily duplicated using today's technology.Who can say what future technology will accomplish?
The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction is supposed to make sense.

I've actually seen a lot of crossover from guys who are into magic are also into card counting and some other forms of Advantage play.

I frequently talk to a guy who is a professional magician and also an advantage player.
I will see if he's interested in posting here(he may even have an account here that I'm unaware of).

Is this the book? Or the variation book?
https://www.funnystore.net/bob-farmer-the-bammo-ten-card-deal-dossier-p-173647.html

It’s a very famous card trick. And concept.

This review mentions what you do about distrust of computers and writing longhand with goosefeathers. And looks like same book.

I once knew a 4D developer and programming consultant, who was also sleight of hand artist, that was well known in the magician community.

Here he is in one of his free performances at a friend’s rooftop party: Palmer

As a young college student in the early sixties, he earned $20 a day working back stage setting up for the shows.

Every day he would take that $20 to the blackjack tables in the casino where he worked, and doubled it using his own counting strategy. This was pre-Thorpe.

One day, his dealer was relieved after only a few minutes by a female dealer. Palmer expected something was up. As she shuffled the cards, he heard a familiar sound. As he explained it, ‘there is a certain sound the cards make when the magician is shuffling them for a trick’. He described it as a ‘snap’. After a few hands, he colored up. Before he left the table he told her, ‘You’re good, but you need more practice’. She just smiled.

He was done there, so he moved on to another casino where he continued doubling his daily pay.

His run came to an end when the owner of the casino, who had been watching him, unexpectedly relieved the dealer, saying “I’m dealing to him.”

Palmer was afraid. He played one hand, which he deliberately lost, then said “Im going home.” The owner replied, “I’ll drive you.” Palmer said, ‘no need’. The owner insisted. “I’m driving you home.”

When they arrived at Palmer’s address, the casino owner turned to him and said “I don’t know what you’re doing, but don’t ever come into my casino again.”

Palmer was still shaking his head years later. “It was only twenty dollars a day. I never went back. In those days you could end up a bump in the desert.”

Can definitely see a lot of crossover. Both can reach the highest levels of nerdy hobbies; go far enough into the nerdiness and both can become occupations.

(I will call upon the truth as my defense against this being a personal insult).

There is maybe 5 website that have sold the book in the past and are always out of it. But I recently found a forum where bob is talking about inventing the 10 card deal dossier and one of the commenters mentions that they thought it was interesting but that it was simply about combining two hands which amount to a bigger hand and whoever gets the Jonah card is the loser. Like I said these tricks can be beaten by the actual observer of the trick if the observer is aware of what’s going on and the trick fails or something

Are you looking for stage magic or forbidden fruit like what is in The Iron Bound Book of Skelos? Generally, such knowledge can't be purchased, it can only be bartered for.
