Thanks! I love these kinds of pics. A few comments...
1955: I've never played swim up blackjack. Has anyone here actually experienced this? How is it done? Obviously you can't just pull your wallet out of your swim trunks. So okay, you charge it to your room. But then how does the table work? It can't be felt. Are the cards waterproof? I mean, even if they deal them face up with no touching you still have wet player hands dripping water everywhere right?
1983: Ah! Now there's the Vegas prices I love and remember. Adjusted for inflation a breakfast should now cost $1.49 right? Except nowadays you'll be lucky if the CNF fee alone is that low and never mind the actual bill. Thank you corporate America.

Yep, a stroll down memory lane ! I have also never played swim-up BJ, although did the Trop have it in the 90's ?
I don't think it was featured, but does anyone else remember the "Boardwalk" about mid-strip. I think it was a Holiday Inn, and we stayed there one year on a business trip.

I was never in it, but it was somewhere across the street from the Coca Cola pavilion.

Swim up? I read somewhere that it was a publicity stunt. In that case, it was probably played with non-value chips.
This is craps, probably from that same day. Zoom in on the dealers visors to see the Sands logo.
On the other hand, some casinos advertise swim up gaming. Its actually games set up near the pool on the patio. Golden Nugget LV has this. They occasionally have to put up with wet money, but otherwise its pretty dry.
By the way, cool photos, but dont believe everything in that article.

The original Aladdin stood where Planet Hollywood is now. Its an actual photo. Aladdin was imploded as Bellagio neared completion across the street!

Tropicana had 2 blackjack tables in the pool when I went 3 years ago. I played for about 30 minutes. Of course 6:5 but you know wasnt really taking it too serious. I put my wallet under my towel and put it against a wall. When the pit boss saw that she said just bring it over here and she kept it behind the chip rack or something like that. I just had a few hundred in there so not too worried about it. It was ok. I remember they dont take a hole card, not sure why.

I recently watched a movie I had never heard of before: The Grand. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Grand_(film)
Anyway, in that movie, a lot of scenes use actual Vegas casinos. Woody Harrelson owns the Rabbits Foot casino, in which the Plaza is used as a stand in:

That picture is posted I believe on the third floor of Cosmo by the elevators. I always liked it. Took the picture earlier during this trip.
On the second floor of Cosmo between the Boulevard and Chelsea towers are many more such old Vegas B&W photos lining the hallways.

Thanks for all those real memories. My parents started taking the family to Vegas from the time I was 6 yrs. old --

It was Woody Harrelson that got thrown out. Im not sure if it was before or after his father died, leaving him to inherit the casino.
BTW: The Grand refers to a fictional(?) poker tourney played at the Golden Nugget. A lot of poker stars appeared in that game.

I first went to Vegas in the mid-70s but it wasn't until the late 80s into the 90s I started to become impressed with it. There was too much empty space on the Strip and when that started to get filled in with huge casinos it became far more impressive.
