Just saw on the news my local
casino is closing tomorrow
night indefinitely and laying
off all employees.

Here's some information on my social isolation initiative:

- We attempted to order restaurant food delivery today and discovered that "all time slots for delivery tonight are filled." We were able to make a reservation to have food delivered tomorrow. So, my current rule of thumb is: order delivery of food at least one day in advance.

- I have withdrawn from my bi-weekly poker game for at least the next 6 weeks. Everyone handles the chips and cards, so contact transmission is unavoidable. Also, transmission by coughing, sneezing and exhalation is an issue due to people being packed in like sardines. But I enjoy my poker games, so this decision hurts.

- I volunteer at our local Museum and serve as vice chair of its advisory board. I sent some emails out on Saturday to our Mayor and museum leadership recommending closure of our museum. Today, Sunday, it was announced that the museum will close and the next meeting of our advisory board is cancelled. Yay!

I've spent the last 6 months with no permanent address, travelling around different countries casinos doing mostly slots vulturing and generally having a whale of a time. After a few weeks in Australia I flew back to the UK yesterday and I've decided to drastically change my lifestyle for the foreseeable future.

Travelling through Australian and Malaysian airports I got the strong sense that things were beginning to grind to a halt. I'm a healthy young man but I have elderly relatives I see often who have serious health conditions, and I don't want to carry the risk of infecting them. Also, if the panic continues to rise and the global supply chains are seriously hit then I think there is the real possibility that without a young adult around my elderly relatives could be at risk if there is a breakdown in public order and access to resources.

As a result I'm going to knock the travelling on the head and retreat to my sleepy little hometown. Making cash from the bricks and mortar casinos will be put on hold, and I'll finally catch up on some of my projects for online casinos which I should have finished months ago but haven't found the time for.

Whatever your view on the seriousness and likely worst case scenarios for this pandemic, I hope everyone is taking sensible precautions and I hope everyone and their loved ones stay safe.

Well, I have now cut all ties with social circles and my calendar is completely empty. My wife and I stay home, all day every day -except for a run to the drug store or (once so far) a run for groceries.

I need a hair cut! My god, I guess I am going to be growing my hair long.

Put a bowl on you head, and have the wife trim anything showing.

Hard to know what is sensible once the politicians get involved.

Not really. Just read what certain posters are doing and do the opposite. It's not perfect, but it's a good guide.
