The restaurant is usually slow around 5am when I go. Maybe two or three tables in use.

I'm in bed and not hungry at 5am
The only urge I get at 5am is to pee
Then I go back to bed

I find that shocking. I thought all of us old guys were up early and in bed early. I usually am in bed around 8pm but I will watch tv for an hour or two. On a typical day I get up around 5:30am.

I rarely sleep past the crack of noon anymore.

Checked out Boulder Station casino on a whim
I actually like it better the Sams Town in a lot of ways
More seats at the sports book
Burger King instead of Mcdonalds
I won 40.00 at 99.54 JOB video poker. Machine in a great spot, by sportsbook.
What scared me is the poker room
Its very small and it was very crowded.
I was actually surprised how busy they were. 6 full tables
I dont understand why casinos dont spread out these tables out into the casino. Use the closed buffet area. Lots of room there.
Poker room has got to one of easiest games to relocate in a casino.
It looked so unsafe in there with this virus going around
What difference is plexiglass at a table if a guy is only a few feet from you at another table.
I use to love poker
Too dangerous these days

So you thought poker was safe in the days of the dipstick at the table eating food and licking his fingers while you all share the same cards and chips?

Yea
Never got sick from playing poker
Of course I'd get sick to my stomach for making a donkey move but that always passes

Poker makes so little money for the casino that they don't pay much attention to it.

I wonder how many casinos in Las Vegas still offer live poker. It was all the rage 10 years ago.

I only played live poker once. It was at Texas Station in 2009.

10 years ago, I did the poker room tour. Played every 1 2 holdem game on the strip. I loved low roller poker so much, I stayed at Bills Gamblin hall just for their low stakes 50c 1 dollar holdem game.

Bring the automated tables back and install plexiglass
I might play
The Plaza had these many years ago
I played and enjoyed it
Its time has come. Safe poker. No dirty cards and chips. Very clean game.

Parked in the Plaza outdoor lot. I figured I'd play a session of bingo to get parking validated. No bingo weekdays.
Oh well
Took the long walk all the to the old Western. Still there. I played BJ there back in the day. Sorry to see the old casino not repurposed for something. At least it's still there.
Drove by the old Moulin Rouge. Nothing there. Empty lot. Visited the neon museum and happy to see the Moulin Rrouge sign saved and even lit up.

I have yet to go to the neon museum. The sad part is that I think I remember all of those signs in their original places.

I have been here 30 years now and remember going to just about every casino. I remember staying at the El Rancho casino and the Hacienda casino back when they were just dives. I really don't even remember exactly where the El Rancho was but I would guess it was somewhere around the Wynn.

The Thunderbird opened in 1948. Then it became the Silverbird in 1977. Then it was rebranded as El Rancho in 1982 and lasted until 1992 when it was torn down. On this site construction began on The Fontainebleau in 2005 but never reached completion due to the Great Recession. Finally in 2018, after years of sitting stagnant, construction has resumed to finish the property and the hotel/casino is hoping to open as The Drew Las Vegas next year.

Thank you, I was close but couldn't remember exactly where it was.

I've stayed at the El Rancho, and we walked directly across the street to get breakfast at the Circus Circus buffet. The Wynn is where the Desert Inn used to be, because that's the old Desert Inn golf course out back.

The original El Rancho Vegas was located across the street from the property you two are referring to. The T-Bird/Silverbird owners tried to cash in on the original Rancho's name.
While the original ER casino burned down in the early 1960s, it stayed open as a non-casino motel until the disco era.
Depending on the year, you may have stayed at either of them.

The El Rancho Vegas was, of course, the first “resort” on the strip, built in 1941, followed by the Last Frontier built in 1942. Now that these two establishments are no more the Flamingo has the distinction of being the oldest property on the strip.

I stayed at the Silverbird in1978. I’m pretty sure I saw Redd Foxx in their showroom.

I saw Redd Foxx many times but not in a show. He used to spend a lot of his later years at Sam's Town playing $5 slot machines and snorting cocaine right at the machine.
