Not talking blackjack or gambling here.....I am talking diet and new years resolutions.

All I can say is today was Jerry's Nugget day. One of my favorite spots (I just wish it was in a different location).

So lunch at the Jerry's famous coffee shop, that wasn't so bad, diet wise. The bad part was hitting the bakery on the way out. Got one of those Chocolate Mousse cakes to go. Upon returning home the mousse cake survived all of about 3 minutes. So yummy! So bad. :(

All good things IN MODERATION.

No problem eating the occasional treat, just don't make it part of a regular diet.

Now I understand why the celebs enjoy high quality food in small quantities (small plates): that way they eat enough to enjoy the taste, but not enough to put on the pounds.

Diet is only half the concern. Also take into consideration what you're doing with the intake of calories. If you eat a cake, do you sit on your rear for the remainder of the day?

Include cardio, or some other exercise into your routine, and you'll notice a difference.
I know that when I'm focused on physical fitness, my diet will improve in part, because I will feel physically ill if I try and consume junk food after a workout.

Wait now. Does swimming in cold water and "shrinkage" (Seinfeld reference) enter into this equation? :)

Hang in there KJ

I've given up Coke Zero and all sodas/diet sodas as a New Year's resolution
So far, so good

I've also started drinking alkaline water in an effort to help with Crohn's

Hopefully this thread can keep us all going in 2016 and beyond!

I gave up diet soda years ago after reading about Aspartame, which is in all cola type diet sodas. Read about Aspartame....it's a scary chemical. In addition I have seen reports that some of the substitute sweeteners, have side effects that make you crave sweets. Talk about counter-productive.

I drink a lot of water. I love ice cold water. Once a day I will have soda (not diet) with my meal that I eat out, but I don't buy soda to drink at home, although some of my other housemates do.

I had so many people tell me that quitting soda/diet soda was a difficult thing to do - I am not saying I don't miss it but there have been no "withdrawal" symptoms and I feel less "bloated"

I eat sensibly most of the time.

My downfall comes after smoking MMJ: those damned munchies.

I absolutely love water. I can't seem to get enough of it. That, and tea.

What does Alkaline water taste like?

I'm hooked on Zico's nowdays, wish they weren't so expensive.

Tastes just like regular water - no discernible difference - at least not to me. The kind I buy has a pH of +9.5

I only drink the well water at my house
for the last 4 years. No soda of any kind.
Vodka once in awhile, but that's a pure
drink too.

Eating the cake was obviously better for you and made you happier than not eating it. If that wasn't true you wouldn't have bought it.

I gave up almost all soda a long time ago. It was very easy and I feel so much better now. I mostly just drink coffee in the morning and blue sugar free Rockstar in the afternoon.

What if you have large junk?

What if you are skinny and still can't see your junk? ;-)
But there it is, plain as day, if you can just find your glasses, which can be hard to do if you don't have your glasses on to look for them. It can get rather circular.....

There seems to be a theme across many threads here, actually has been the theme of a few.
Several, at least (cough), here seem to be uncomfortable with their weight, or comfortable with their weight while admitting that it is a bit more than what they consider optimal. Is that just congruent with the stats we see all the time that large percentages of Americans are 'larger' than they should be?
Or is there some insidious correlation between forums such as this and people such as those?
A question for the matheletes obviously, but anyone can venture a guess or opinion.
Youuuuuu MIGHT be a 'rascal' if.......(nevermind ;-)...2F

That's nothing. I saw an entire chocolate cake at my neighborhood Wal-Mart for $2.69!!! I didn't eat the whole thing - but that's a bargain. It would have been sacrilege to not take advantage of such a deal. (It was pretty good, too. I threw half of it away because it's just not good to have a cake lying around the house. )

Jerry's Nugget is one of the top casino coffee shops in Vegas. It is everything a casino coffee shop should be: cheap, plentiful portions, tasty, and easily comped :)

I'd put it next to Tuscany coffee shop for top spot.

My major problem is pop. I just can't stop. It is seriously like a drug. Lately we have been buying too much for home and between the 2 of us a 2 liter will only last 2 days if we are lucky. I did make a rule that my wife agree with that we are only allowed to use an 8 ounce cup.

However, 2 days ago I made a pact with a friend to not eat a single piece of bread/rice/potato and to not drink a single calorie (including diet pop) until the 16th of Jan. Sure it is only 12 days but it is a start. I am 36 hours in and haven't touched one yet, and really havent craved it either surprisingly.
