That's supposed to be: A Joyous Festivus For The Rest Of Us.

My grievance: my boss made me remove my Festivus Pole. 😠

You still listen to Boy George?

Get me a hot date and I'll smooth it, please hook me up with Erin Burnett or Lori from "Shark Tank" to get me really motivated.

I guess I should air a grievance by now.

Ford Motor Company, will you please bring out a Ranger sized like the 1980s but with comforts of today for those of us wanting something rationally sized?

Fox News, why on earth can I not subscribe to you ala carte? If you think I am paying $1K a year for cable to see fair and balanced news, think again. I will make to with online and RT streaming.

To the fish-n-chips place nearby, put in a double door so I can eat there without wind blowing in this time of year, because there are a dozen other places I can go on the same block.

More if I think of them.

Mid 80s to late 1990s small pick-ups were a valid alternative to a subcompact car. Instead of an unused back seat you had a bed to haul in from time to time. With some of the projects I do and plan to do I would love to have something easy to park and easy onm gas for all the drives to various counties but can throw things in back of.

Mildly aroused at the thought of a 2017 Ranchero.

And then GM would have to bring back the El Camino.

And then Fiat Dodge would have to follow suit.

And of course they'd have to fit one with a Hellcat.

And of course it would rot within 5 years.

So by 2022, I could find a Hellcat in a junkyard for like $700 and can finally build the mid engine Chevette sleeper I've always wanted! =D

Half sedan, half pickup. Or is it an open station wagon? Fake wood grain to boot.

Designers were told to weld spare body parts together and see what happened.

There's no secret. Just know what you're talking about before you open your mouth.

Subaru Baja, man!

I've never driven one of these, but I am 100% behind pre-'05 Sube's. Had a '93 Legacy and it was, hands down, the best car I've ever driven.

If that doesn't tickle your fancy, then pick a car you like and let's do this! You can turn anything into a truck, and I'd not mind giving it a shot. A Honda Accord pick em up seems like it would meet all of your criteria. Hell, it would meet most of mine. Actually... I might be getting some real keen ideas right now...

Reminds me of this monstrosity I saw a few years ago, parked in the lot of our local "ghetto mall"...

Back on topic...guess I'll air my admittedly first-world-problem grievance against my employer, for scheduling me to work 11 days straight through Christmas and New Year's without so much as a dime of holiday bonus pay.

How about an old Demon?

This is more what I was thinking, it need not have V-8, just base it on a Focus.

A Ute? It's basically a Commodore which is basically a GTO. So in the end, you still have a full sized car with a whopping V8. No easier to park, and mileage similar to my terrible VORTEC. Granted, it handles much better than a 1500, and damn, but it has some power. But it's not filling the gap you described. It's not a "small truck", it's a "sports truck". I'd classify it in the same group as the Dodge Ram SRT10 or Ford Lightning, although with much better handling.

If I didn't have the race car, I'd totally turn a tuner into a truck. A Civic/Accord would easily haul a bit of wood or an ATV, no problem. You couldn't haul a full load of bricks, but who does that more than once a decade anyways? I just don't think there's an engine/tranny combination in a 4 banger arrangement that could handle towing 3,500lbs, otherwise I'd be starting this project 30 minutes ago and be on my way to waving my 19mpg goodbye =(

LOL! I was just about to praise him!

I miss those 4 banger jap boxes from the 80s and 90s. Spent a lot of my Senior year in a Datsun 720. So terrible I loved it. I suppose you could put, I dunno, a few discarded beer cans in the back, but I wouldn't go much further than that. My 190lb dirtbike reduced it to first gear at any semblance of an incline XD

Ahhh... memories <3

It has to handle better than any truck, and it is IMHO proof of concept that you can make something that size into a truck.

That is a lot to tow. I just want to pull the occasional utility trailer for when I get offered free furniture or appliances from people I know. Also if I get into beekeeping in a big way the next few years. Stuff like that.

Maybe I should drop my Accent off next year after I trade up and turn you loose?

They have tightened up the Chicken Tax such that you will not see a rice-burner pick-up again in this lifetime. Back then I would not even look at imports. Today I just wish someone would bring back a truck I could LUV.

Nope, really. That thing just ran and ran and ran. No maintenance issues. i think it had about 225k miles on it when I sold it eight years ago. I still see the guy driving it around town today. I only sold it because I bought a boat and it couldn't pull it.

Getting back to the Airing of Grievances, here is mine.

Vegemite sucks!!! It tastes like the raw crude oil that washes up on the beaches around Santa Barbara. How can Australians eat this black goo?

There is such a HUGE difference in taste buds, huh? To me, it tastes like salty pot roast perfectly carmellized for that rich, beefy burst of flavor. A little goes a LONG way; just the barest of scrapings on buttered bread is great; spread like peanut butter, it's toxic and overwhelming.

My Festivus gripe is that my family is all over the place; Colorado, Missouri, Florida, Minnesota, and we're not going to see each other at all this holiday season. Makes things a bit hollow as Christmas approaches.

Or, if Festivus is meant to be trivial gripes, the damned sugar ants are back around the sink.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

Here's a couple:

1) Local Car Dealership radio ad says "$6000 off ANY SELECT new KIA in stock" which is clearly worded carefully to make you come in before you realize the emphasis is on "SELECT" and not "ANY".

2) Some idiot spills water on the linoleum floor at the resort we are staying at (Florida, not Vegas), doesn't say anything, and sure enough I find it by slipping and falling. I think I pulled something along my rib cage, it hurts but not so much as to ruin the vacation. But I can't sleep on that side at night.

Your punishment was just changed to having to eat a piece of Vegemite toast. BBB can advise on the proper preparation.

I tried vegemite once when I was staying in hostels throughout Europe (which is where that commercial was filmed, or at least that's what they wanted you to think).

I actually didn't think it was that bad. The thing is, you don't just slather it on your toast. You put a thin layer of vegemite, then butter on top. At least that's how the Australians I was with told me to do it (I'm sure it varies based on where you grew up, family traditions, etc.). In that context, it just added a bit of saltiness.
