Courtyard by Marriott is now looking to guests to help pay the maids. sheesh, where does it stop?

New policy of envelopes will to be slid under the door prior to checkout stating-
“Our caring room attendants enjoyed making you stay warm and comfortable, Please feel free to leave a gratuity to express your appreciation for their efforts.”
Its just a forum. Nothing here to get obsessed about.

Why doesn't Marriott show it's appreciation by paying $1 more per hour?

I know how to pronounce "concierge" and had no idea you were expected to tip a maid. Hell, I spent half my Hawaii vacation bickering with the kahn-see-AIR at the Sheraton Maui over blatant communication issues - I tipped the hell out of the valet, wait staff, bartenders, etc. but did not tip the maid because I did not realize it was expected.

Old joke.

A blonde and a brunette are watching the news at a bar when the story turns to a man who's standing on a bridge, threatening to jump. The brunette says, "A hundred bucks says he jumps." The blonde takes the bet - and the man jumps.
