Hello, quick question to people who frequently visit Vegas or live near there.

I been to Vegas many times on weekends, but I'm planning to go on a Wednesday.

Is Vegas lively on weekdays? How about the nightlife. Is it as lively as weekends or is it dead during weekdays?

I'm planning to stay on the strip, on one of the MGM properties.

Going to gamble and lounge by the swimming pools during the day and go to a bar or club at night. I like people watching, so I would like to know if Vegas is dead during the weekdays.

Thanks in advance!

No, it's always busy.

Weekends are busier than weekdays, especially for clubbing.

Weekends draw the So. Cal crowd, raring to party in what they consider their back yard.

Hakkasan, MGM's premier club, is closed Mon, Tues and Wed.

Vegas is busi-er on weekends, but it is fairly busy during the week too.

Ya gotta remember that a large percentage of visitors are coming from a respectable distance, so they're gonna be there for several days. As such, the specific day of the week may not matter to those visitors. Of course it gets a lot of semi-local visitors, like from So Cal. These are people going on the weekends.

Note that depending on which convention is in town, the weekdays may be busier than the weekend for that particular week. For example, unless you're going to CES, you don't wanna visit that week at all.

Note that hotel prices can be a reasonable barometer of how busy it is. The lower the price, the more they're trying to fill empty rooms.

It's not ghost-town dead, but it sounds like you are there to party. For what you are looking for, it's dead.

I've spent whole week there before. The nighclubs aren't even open. The party pools are open but they have sections closed off, and no DJs or anything.

It's not terrible, but I don't think that it's what you are looking for.

Compared to what? Las Vegas on a Wednesday would be the biggest most wondrously amazing thing to ever happen in Iowa.

How many hotel/motel rooms are in Las Vegas? 150,593

There are people there but they are all convention people. He wants to go there to lounge by the pool and go to nightclubs. That stuff is all dead. The people who are there are there for work, not to party.

Huh? You sure you didn't stay in Las Vegas, NM that week?????

As someone said earlier, Vegas (in Nevada!) is busiER on the weekends, but it's far from being "empty" during the week. (On the Strip, at least.) I don't know why the OP would think Vegas is "dead".

And no, not all of the nightclubs are closed. Far from it:

all convention people.

Unless they are coming in on vacation for a week or two, which is very common, especially among the fly-in visitors making a significant time & money investment just to get to the check-in line, or those who are on any of the many and varied breaks in all the colleges' calendars.

Most conventions & trade shows of really significant size are not midweek & out; they are generally scheduled through weekends if they begin during the week. One can see that by following the convention calendar on LVCA, which is something I find interesting to do (and by the way can sometimes be rewarding if you're deciding where & when to play some poker for example). The big convention of the nightclub & bar & restaurant industry or the rodeo cowboy week with their tsunami of groupies are a bit different than the tax accountant or computer geek shindigs, as I'm sure you can imagine and may have seen.

But I don't really want to disagree with you that things like the club scene are significantly more cranked up on weekends, on average, at least from what I see of the lines to get into some of them, if one also makes allowance for the consideration that it can vary quite a bit from week to week. What you see one week can be a lot different on the same day of another week, and there are also seasonal fluctuations. Midweek does have more people taking advantage of the room rates, and they don't, on average, tend to spend quite as much on other things either, including nightclubs and collecting little paper umbrellas poolside. Somewhat more buffet & relatively less flambe something-or-other. But it is a matter of degree, and of what looks live or dead to you where you're coming from. There is still more wildlife afoot than you're likely to find on a Saturday night in Des Moines.

The other name for Las Vegas: "LA's hot tub."

My neighbors in that valley up the road & over the hills will hate me for saying that.

I usually don't work on weekends, not because I need the days off but there are too many people walking around. It is great for picking off slots and UX, but I don't make the rounds much.

The OP wants to visit some premier Las Vegas clubs and seek out the packed, nubile flood of well-dressed, sexually charged humanity on their dance floors.

Weekends.

End of story.

Yes, exactly, this. There are people there during the week but they are not the people that he is looking for.
