Well, I think I cursed him by knowing he was doing well. He's now in 80th, still respectable, but down around 60% from last night.

Not gonna look again.

Babs, he really isn't the type of person you should be cheering for. If you are a jinx for him, please keep checking.

Mickey just too large a field. I mean you have so many super aggressive players making stupid bets, but enough if them actually catch cards. Who knows which ones will get lucky. Like Doyle said " it's a lottery. Pros have more tickets, but it,s still a lottery " In huge fields like this, it's as real carp shoot. Winner will have ball all in or had a huge bet that h ed won while an underdog 10 - 15 times. That old 30 big blinds bulletin is out the window. Especially in a top heavy payout.

No, but noticing imperfections in cards and betting/playing accordingly is absolutely legal.

May I expand on this:

1. If you notice that a roulette wheel favors 29 possibly because the wheel is off balance is it cheating to bet on 29?
2. If you notice that the dice are showing 4-4 more than usual possibly because the dice are not square is it cheating to bet on the hard 8?

The BABS curse continues. Bubble approaching. Good time to steal. Especially if you have the biggest stack at the table.

354 / 1 James Duncan 236,500
354 / 2 Robert Gaudio 177,000
354 / 3 Phil Ivey 522,500
354 / 4 Jing Wang 515,000
354 / 5 Mark Hughes 327,000
354 / 6 Trevor Whiteway 91,500
354 / 7 Kyle Keranen 502,500
354 / 8 Jason Riesenberg 264,500
354 / 9 Martin Verdegaal 265,500

Not one, but 2 stacks just as big.

If you offered him (or any pro) a guarantee that they'd be cursed like this (72nd of 746 remaining with above average stack approaching "the bubble") I think they'd be okay with that curse. Of course you'll have to catch a few cards and win at least several coin-flips to make the money in a tournament like this, no matter how well you play, or how well you may have chipped-up at some point early on.

That's the BABS curse. You can see the prize money, actually thinking it's yours. Then it disappears.

In that case, he ought to be presented with a BABS trophy when he bubbles out. I'm sure he'd greatly appreciate it, and find a special place of honor to display it.

I understand that Phil Ivey wants to use that money to repay the $6,000,000 + he borrowed from Full Tilt. He had been making payments earlier on smaller amounts when he was winning, but in the 2 years before the end, he never paid back a dime.

Well, thats what they get for playing on a site that was a Ponzi scheme. Oh, Phil did get paid half a million or so to recommend it.

And now to have his sterling reputation besmirched like thee. Oh, the injustice

You are changing the subject. None of this has anything to do with whether getting the casino to turn the cards constitutes cheating.

Sorry for the late reply as I am in the opposite side of the world and hence the time difference.

Here is the argument from Borgata

http://blog.northjersey.com/meadowlandsmatters/8898/poker-star-phil-ivey-says-borgata-has-no-right-to-sue-him-for-9-6m-in-baccarat-winnings/

Here is the argument from Ivey

http://www.flushdraw.net/news/phil-ivey-attorneys-file-motion-dismiss-borgata-edge-sorting-lawsuit/

It is interesting to note amongst the other claim by Borgata, they say Ivey requested and used a illegal equipment which is none other than the casino own CSM.

Ivey did admit to card sorting and he says he win due to pure skill.

General question about the WSOP and "poker" in general.

1. Are you allowed to wear sunglasses, listen to music via earphones, and use your smart phone while at the table and in a game?

I went to the site and see such things in the photos. It seems unfair but I'm asking since I don't know the rules.

There is no God. Fyi, two of my internet friends busted out before him, and I would put money up on them vs. Ivey.

Mark Newhouse is still in of the final 27. Although not a household name, he made the final table last year. He's currently in 11th with 6.8 million.

If that's the biggest name though, the tourney will likely be a snooze fest.
