This is the OP. Thanks for the funny discussion. I got my pack of Marlboro lights and plan on lighting up at some point this weekend. My friend who I am going with HATES smoking so I will probably only do it a couple times in deference to him. Maybe just at the slots and sport book area. If the craps table already has smokers, I will light up, but not if no one else is smoking.

Last time I was in Vegas back in 2008, I was at Club Tao and the only other smoker I could find was this young lady who was there for a conference on Lord Byron, of all things. Neither of us smoked in our normal lives but thought that Vegas would be a good chance to have a few. We both felt really guilty about smoking because no one else was.

I do the same thing when I'm in Vegas (sans the guilt). I am lucky in that I used to smoke lightly (probably half pack/day at my heaviest), but it was easy for me to quit. For whatever reason, maybe because I didn't smoke that much, I didn't have the crazy nicotine withdrawals or the cravings. So, it's easy for me to smoke one here or there and then just put it down. I know many former smokers who are incredibly jealous of me, as if they had one, they would be back for good.

Amazing how "is smoking allowed in X casino? I am asking because even tho I don't really smoke, I wouldn't mind lighting up one for fun" took a dozen pages to answer, complete with murder-chimps and a suspension.

Let us not forget pythons, pit bulls, human sexuality, civil liberties, etiquette and cigar care. Yes, yes: a good run indeed! We could not have done it without Larry - he was a catalytic force. Perhaps we should start a petition to ask that his sentence be commuted.

I still want that chimp's number. A half dozen stiff scotchy-scotches and I'd lay a lip-lock on her.

Replace "commuted" with "extended indefinitely", and I'm in.

This actually crossed my mind. He did bring joy into the world.

On the other hand, in the past, I have viewed it like Axiom. I think we should ask for a sentence reduction, but as a condition, Larry must permanently post ONLY in this thread, and as a rule, is not subject to insults.

I have to say, the chimp thing was pretty funny. Except, I'm pretty sure he was serious.

Kids today. Smoking, owning chimps... what is this world coming to?

I agree with the axiomofchoice, the aroma of a GOOD cigar is infinitely preferable to that of cigarette smoke, hey hey.

Dude, he was 100% serious. That is why it blew my mind. Serious conversations involving chimps are not very common, especially when the original topic has nothing to do with chimps. And that makes it hilarious. I wish no one invented Planet of the Apes, because Larry duplicated the inspiration for that idea. I wish I knew Larry better, someone's gonna get rich off him. Edit: That entire last sentence is a wild exaggeration.

This thread is not about smoking, it is about chimps.

Of course he was serious. If Larry had not been genuinely fired up with moral indignation while on his virtual soapbox he would not have been Larry.

Yeah, sigh, kids these days... looking at the picture of their neighbor's kid on a milk carton and clueless about the bulge in their python.

I had actually created survey questions to ask forum members to choose from regarding Larry's suspension:

1. Commute his sentence based on the merit of his forum participation.
2. Commute his sentence so I can have someone to spar with.
3. Commute his sentence so the greenies will be watching him instead of me.
4. Antagonizing posts provide mitigating circumstance and the offence wasn't that severe, reduce the suspension.
5. He did the crime, let him serve the time.
6. He has several prior offences on his rap sheet and got off too easy, extend the suspension.
7. Nuke him! Nuke him! (Bring your own torches and pitchforks, tar and feathers optional.)
8. I don't care and I'm sorry I wasted my time reading this thread.
9. Who the hell is Larry?

I was unsure where and how to initiate a survey so I abandoned the idea. If anyone else wants to run with it, feel free to use/modify the material.

We need to get Floyd Mayweather's opinion on the matter.

He's too busy trying to buy the Clippers right now. Would have been sweet - over in one action.

I've been betting on football last year and never heard of this guy. Does he play for the clippers?
