In this thread we seemed to establish April as the best month to have our next gathering. The question for the forum is exactly which day. Keep in mind it will likely be a lunch gathering.

A ranked/preferential voting method would be great for this question, since for a lot of people the specific day of the weekend isn't that important, but they'd MUCH prefer one of those two days over any other choices.

But, I think we'll survive :)

I'll look at both the weekend with the most votes as well as which day of any week gets the most. It may be that the "winner" is not the one in the majority.

We plan to stay at the Rio when we are in LV in February. I just did a quick check for rates at Rio for weekends in April and found that the weekend of 4-6 they are priced about double what they are the weekend of 18-20. I suspect that means that something is going on -- either city-wide or at that hotel -- the first weekend of the month. Speaking for the cheapskates of the group, I think it might be worthwhile for someone to check what the local calendar is for April and help us pick a time when rates for a number of things might be low rather than boosted based on demand.

Of course, I will spend more on my airline tickets than I do on the room, but demand for the two might correlate.

Other than pricing issues, I think I am almost equally open to any of the dates that month. I currently only have two commitments on my calendar for April, and they could both probably be shifted with adequate advanced planning. (Ah, some of the benefits of this delightful, permanent unemployment!)

Easter is Sunday, April 20. The first weekend in April might be the last of college spring breaks; a lot of public school systems take their Spring Break during Easter Week, and families travel. So I'm thinking the last weekend would be the cheapest hotel-wise.

I work 70 hours a week and am entitled to 1 week of vacation a year, which I use to take my family to a beach on the East Coast. However, I get a long weekend every quarter and my long weekend this quarter is April 4-6. I plan to be in Vegas at this time anyway so that is my vote. Thanks!

Good point. I'd prefer to avoid spring break week, as I was thinking of going out of town. Plus, it will be more expensive here in Vegas, and I know we have some members on a tight budget. So, at this point I'm leaning towards April 27.

Isn't the first weekend in April usually the NCAA Final 4? March madness actually also consumes the beginning of April...

Can't do Easter. And, assuming I ever actually sell anything, quarterly commissions are paid on April 25th. So....put me down for the 26th/27th:-)

Hmm. That would have me move my vacation to late April and early May. I'll need to check prices on that. But it might be worth it to avoid Spring Break.

I plan on being in Las Vegas Feb or March to pitch my game. Hopefully I can be in Vegas in April as a victory tour.

Yes the Final Four is that weekend, that is a very big weekend in vegas.

Why does Sunday seem to be getting so many more votes than Saturday? I would think some people might be leaving on Sunday the 27th.

I was wondering that too. Maybe I'll do another poll between just 4/26 and 4/27.

I weighed the two dates & decided we'd be more likely to be able to play together on a sunday. But, the travel concern is something that I didn't really consider. For my own part, I'll be in town and playing something somewhere on both days of the weekend.

Yes. If Spring break is the week from the 13th to the 20th, I'd just as soon avoid it.

Besides, we do get 1.5 days off in Easter. I can stretch my vacation by starting it "officially" the following Monday. Not to mention the extra time to pack and settle things here.

So I'm thinking Apr 20th to May 8th, pending what the rates are then.
