Depends on your income, and hers. I'm well into "marriage penalty" zone (assuming I married someone with similar income)

@SOOPOO, The Guinness record is 24 in 180 seconds apparently. http://www.uproxx.com/sports/2013/08/meet-bro-holds-world-record-eating-chicken-mcnuggets/

In the spirit of the contest, I timed myself eating a 6 piece McNuggets today. I figured I could do 6 in 30 seconds (keep in mind I don't think I've eaten a McNugget in 20 years or so). Adding 10 seconds for each 6 would put me at 24 in 180 seconds, which seems about right: 30 + 40 + 50 + 60 = 180.

Nuggets 1-2 went down fast, but 3-5 took me a while to chew, and my jaw got tired. If I could use sauce, or some water it may have helped, but I ate them dry. McNugget #6 went down easy right at 37 seconds. I think I could do 6 in 30 with a little practice. I could never do 100 though.

Long live Mission!

Funny story, I just got engaged on Thursday night, so I've been thinking about this a lot. If you both work and make similar incomes, it's almost never a good idea for tax purposes to get married. But if you have one big earner and one small earner (or no earner), it can lower your effective tax rate. Depends entirely upon the exact numbers.

My fiance has been unemployed since June and her unemployment runs out this month, and she can't find a job with her current degree, so she's 95% going back to school next year. Which means if we get married next summer (current plan), it will benefit us collectively. One income (mine) being taxed in the married category = lower bracket.

Evenbob might be right after all. Aceofspades, what the hell are you thinking about? If the girl will still have you, marry her. You of all should know about marriages based on finances. LOVE makes the world go round. Grab that brass ring when you can. Life is too short!

Marriage penalty really screwing up everything. My little brother would never marry his gf's. Had a baby twice with different mothers. They lived together, but she would get food stamps, wic , etc as a single mom. He has a beautiful daughter Jackie, in her 20's now who hates him. She's right. He is an asshole.

2 people legitimately on disability, getting a whole $561 a month plus $28 each on food stamps. If they get married, SS! drops to $800.
WTF ?

I am so old I remember when pregnant girls had to drop out of school, when there were homes for unwed mothers. And the term Baby daddy did not exist. And " living together " was called shacking up.

Someone needs to start a marriage thread and make a poll for or against it. I'm disappointed every time I have to hear about it on this thread.

Great advice. I grew up amongst religious folks, went to small private Christian school K-12. Of the 26 kids in my senior class (class of 2002), there are already 4 divorces that I know of. I strongly believe that the "abstinence until marriage" concept contributed to a few of those.

I'm glad I waited to get married, and didn't wait to have sex.

Who dat? is heard all over New Orleans. I first heard it there in the 60s and it wasn't new then. More recently, it has become the catchphrase for the Saints football team. You cannot go more than a couple of minutes in that town without hearing or seeing it. It is often accompanied by the Fleur-de-lis on signs and clothing.

No wife, no girlfriend. Good for you, Ace. It's
a losing long run proposition, as I'm sure you
know. My advice to guys has always been: You
can always get married, takes 10 min. What's
your hurry. How many happily married men do
you know. Men had to get married in the past,
not anymore. Hold out as long as you can, you
won't regret it.

My favorite saying about sex is, somewhere is
the worlds most beautiful woman. And somewhere
there's a guy who's bored with having sex with her.

Put me down on happily and luckily married list. Should have picked another day, but always looking for an angle. Can't see Mission on the 21st. Because it's 45th wedding anniversary on Dec 21.

The angle : longest night of the year

Whats the largest bingo card you hit?

Sorry, just saw this post. The largest one I cleared was about $3500. Try to calculate the odds on this: I hit four deuces to clear my card and the only game I played on it was Deuces. In other words, I hit all twelve natural four of a kinds before I hit the deuces.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

He did mention he had a trip to Vegas this month so maybe he is there waiting for the Mission challenge.
