I am not positive but it appears to be rapid roulette. You have a screen in front of you to place bets and the ball automatically spins.

Mocha clubs have no dealers, only electronic table games. They look far more sophisticated than the Shufflemaster games which are so prevalent in America.

To me, not only does it look like poker, it appears to say the word "Poker..." on it.

Coffee shop casinos. Love it!

Huh? Brezhnev?

I'm to blame for Leonid Brezhnev. Somebody was trying to post an image from my Wizard of Odds site. Let me back to to explain why.

The Odds site has been online since 1997. Since that time the material has been stolen by other sites hundreds of times. Copy and paste any sentence on a popular game, and you'll see several sites that copied and pasted it word for word. Sometimes legtimate land casinos, but usually worthless banner forms for online casinos. It wasn't just the writing, but the strategy charts and pictures as well. When I mentioned this problem to my webmaster he added some code to make an alternate picture come up when someone does a "server side include." This is not only stealing the picture, but using resources of the site you are stealing from to display it. The picture he chose was so graphic and shocking I don't even want to describe it. Since it was often sites out of Russia that were the ones doing the stealing, at least at that time, I chose the Brezhnev picture as a joke. The text is mine. Maybe I can get him to make an exception for this site. Until then, if you want to reference an image from my Odds site, please just provide a link.

It's now apparently gone from the original server as well, or at least transformed.

This is an electronic roulette table of which there are dozens in Macau.
The ball shoots out of a hole by compressed air and the whole process is
automatic, with the machine processing the bets and paying the customer
once every minute.

The great advantage is that the table caters for only 8 players so there
are no drunken louts leaning over your shoulder to place a bet, and your bets
are secure.

I am off to Macau on Monday 26th July for another tour of the casino's and almost
always only play these machines, with reasonable success.

Every casino has these although they are not the same as the Venetian style.

From the picture provided, I think they are just slot parlors that serve gourmet coffee and that the repetitive use of the word "lifestyle" is not meant to imply anything more. Its sort of an upscale slot parlor.

In the USA most slot parlors seem to be decidedly down-scale places that soak up social security checks and offer at most some occasional stale coffee.

I'd love to run a Mocha Club in the USA... if only there were a jurisdiction that looked favorably on them.

Mocha provides an excellent alternative option for punters and visitors looking for something more than can be offered by casinos. There is no real dealers who might affect your play, and you do not have people standing behind you watching you play. All slot machines and electronic table games here are computerized and you can enjoy absolute privacy without being disturbed byanyone else if you don't wish to.

From the advertising it seems to appeal to nervous first time gamblers. The idea of dealers affecting your play is an unusual concept. The emphasis is on privacy and on being disturbed.

Many people in America like the idea of talking to dealers, and enjoy the camraderie of craps games.

It could be something cultural but more likely the text that you quoted would more properly be: We don't have the money or political clout to get licensed as a real casino and this solitude thing is just about all we can think of to differentiate us without coming right out and saying we are not allowed to hire dealers so that is why we don't have them. Perhaps coffee beverages are enjoyed in quiet solitude in the orient?
