Just the way I prefer it. Crowds suck!

Vegas has a totally different feel to it when
the crowds are gone. It's like going to a
baseball game and 80% of the seats are
empty. Boring.

It's not the absence of a crowd that makes it boring, it's the psychological effect of the fact that the two teams aren't really playing for anything, which is why the stadium is only 20% full.

I hope this helps a first time visitor. First thing, if you're going to be running around town chasing free play etc. as part of any overall plus EV extravaganza, as another poster mentioned, dissing ANY loss rebate (and there are at least 3 or 4 that I can think of right now) is not smart. You say you aren't playing "to lose", which has nothing to do with why you are doing what you're doing. No one wants to lose, but, well, you'll see what I mean when you begin playing. Everything looks sweet from this angle and right now. Tell me you wish you weren't playing in loss rebate situations when you actually get their.

Next, you appear young and inexperienced. Enjoy your first visit with your wife. Why corrupt that by scrambling around trying to hit everywhere and waste all that time chasing el cheapo match plays and all that other stuff? Pick and choose, and spend as much quality time as possible. There's always another day.

I go to casinos to make money, not be entertained.

I find it easier to make money when it's crowded,
I blend in with all the other hoopleheads.

We'll see on that.

I've never been to Vegas, but I consider myself a fairly seasoned gambler.

Sure it is. No crowd excitement, no vibe in the
air. You might as well be home watching it on
TV.

Completely agree. Everything I like to do there, I prefer to do without crowds. Same as any theme park. Went to Disney World on their 1st NYE, along with 1 MILLION other people; Disney never allowed that to happen again. It was insane. I don't like big concerts, pro sports in person, or NASCAR races for the same reason; lines everywhere, noisy, uncomfortable, can't get near the best things. LOVE a 1/2 full cruise ship, empty theme park, slow casino.

I was in Vegas at Xmas years ago. Was so dead and so
boring I tried to kill myself maybe three times. Never
again. Same with Tgiving. No crowds, no action in
the casinos, just bored to death dealers looking at
their watches.

I've spent the last 4 Christmas's in Vegas and I found it quite crowded.
One year I stayed at Bills Gambling Hall for Christmas and it was totally sold out that day.
Spending this Christmas in Vegas and will expect crowds.
One christmas I tried to eat at the Wynn buffet and got there at 830pm and they close at 10. Line was so long the hostess said I might only get 20 min to eat, I left and hit up a different casino buffet.
One member here sent me a free stay at Paris, I called Paris, Dec 24, 25 blocked out
Its just a forum. Nothing here to get obsessed about.

On the day itself. The week before Xmas is what
I'm talking about, it's typically the slowest week
of the year.

I hate crowded casino's. I'm often in bed when they get busy.

I prefer playing early morning and afternoon when I can play heads up.

My fondest memories of gambling in Vegas were getting up at 5am with jetlag and wandering the strip for 3-4 hours before breakfast, playing here and there, and taking in the sights, uncrowded and unrushed.

Damn, I'm starting to hanker for a trip again...

To me, the people are the sights. I've been to Vegas
so many times I don't see it anymore. The people
are always new and different, the buildings are always
the same.

I play lots of slots and nobody ever sees me. I blend right in with the rest of the tourists and jackpot winners trying to give it all back. It's the vp players the casinos watch out of those playing the machines. But it's not because of what people may think. It's because the boards are LOADED with vp players who either lie about their results, or try to make everyone think they do nothing but win because they have a .1% "advantage". To bolster this belief, none other than William Dancer recently wrote about how he "chose" to stay at a flea bag motel and then had to steal their breakfasts rather than pay ten lousy bucks apiece. I'm SO glad I play mostly slots.

Sounds like the opening line to a hard-boiled detective novel. Can I use that?

No, mostly due to inflation.

Hi guys, long time fan of the Wizard but first time poster on this forum. I've been considering a trip such as you had planned Mission. How did your trip go? Did you write the article you were considering? Would love to read it and find out how you did and if you enjoyed the challenge.

No, I'll be doing that in April and writing that article. I went to Vegas in December, but didn't end up trying to do that on that particular trip.
