Why would this be a lack of respect? Should cirque cancel all their shows?

No.

It's the Cirque promo that I think is a mistake.

I once heard that the airlines put a clause in their advertising contracts to pull their ads immediately a plane crash. And then it's up to the airlines to decide when the time is OK to start advertising again...

That's what I mean. Cancel this promo at least until Ka resumes performances.

I guess I just don't have the same outlook. I think that TI should be able to promote their business without insulting anybody, unless they are trying to capitalize on the accident. Seems more like business as usual to me though.

They'd be justified to do so. Consider:

1) Suspending all shows for one night as a sign of respect and grief would be both appropriate and understandable. of course, there'd be refunds to hand out and some people would be inconvenienced.

2) A fatality is a very serious thing. Is the cause known yet? Could this kind of accident happen again? It would not be unreasonable to either take extra precautions or even shut down some shows while the matter is being investigated.

Perhaps, but how much of the "The Show Must Go On" mentality exists in Cirque du Soleil? After all, it is a circus by name...

may be not enuff time to stop the adds? i dont think they being insensetive.
