Terrific post Mickey, I enjoyed that.

I assume that was sarcasm.

I found it boring.

And what does it have to do with Revel's promo?

Which tells you something when they cant get $30M for that place. Even with all the work needed, it has a great location.

Over Memorial Day weekend, it was easy to see all is not well here. Eight of the 12 casinos predate the mid-1980s -- carpets are grungy, paint is chipping off the walls, and far fewer employees are working the gaming floors.

"Everything is old here," Andrew DeJoy, 80, of Staten Island, said as he sat playing an antiquated penny slot machine that he joked had been there since the casino, the city's least profitable, opened on May 26, 1984. Gaudy old chandeliers still hang from the ceiling. But on Sunday, something else irritated Mr. DeJoy more: "I've been here close to four hours," he said, "and I haven't had one cocktail server ask me if I wanted something to drink. The service is horrible."

FYI -Revel is giving out some decent slot cash offers in addition to the loss rebate- unexpected?

Wonder if 1 or more AC casinos will fight back & match slot$ during the upcoming slow season?

There could be some lemonade made frome what was thought to be a lemon of a promo?

Went to Revel yesterday around 5 pm and noticed the "1,000 Free Gas Card Drawings Every Day" but never heard ONE drawing in over 2 hours.

The Rules State, Every day in August from 8 AM to Midnight, Revel will give away $10 Gas cards every 15 mins.

I walked around, Played some slots and won about $90, so then I went over to the 3 card poker table where my buddy was playing.

My buddy said, "This dealer is on fire! If I give you some chips will you play his spot?"

"Sure!" Play $10 on the Ante, get King, Jack, Two... Put $10 more on the Play bet. Dealer qualifies with a Queen. Up $20 already, SWEET!!

Pit boss comes over, "Do you have a card sir?" Gave the pit boss my Revel card, and stayed for roughly 2 hours.

In that entire time, not ONCE did I hear them call any names or "Hot Seats" for the Gas Card Drawing. Allegedly, it's open to both Slot and Table Game players. But if they were calling names or winning sections, I sure didn't hear about it. Maybe I mis-read the promo and had to go to the Card center to find out who or where the winners were, but they sure didn't make it known to the customers(or lack thereof) in the building.

So either Revel is discreetly cutting these giveaways down or making sure nobody actually qualifies for them?

The Hot Seat gas card giveaway is not announced over a loud speaker. The guys/girls walk around with a clipboard after the computer randomly picks someone who's card is inserted into a machine or being rated at a table. I actually have won 2 gas cards thus far in the few weeks the promo has been running.

Even if you're not a Revel fan, would you choose Revel Casino-Hotel or the Atlantic Club if you were Steve Wynn?

could become interesting:

"Steve Wynn reportedly is getting serious about online gambling in New Jersey. The Garden State legalized online betting this year and plans to have some state-sanctioned games debut this fall.

Press of Atlantic City reported that Wynn’s Wynn Interactive LLC is one of the 37 firms that the state said applied by an early deadline to be involved with the industry.

Wynn has ties to Atlantic City but is currently not a casino owner there. As a result, he would need to partner with an existing brick-and-mortar casino license in New Jersey in order to be able to offer games — or build. Only Revel Casino-Hotel and the Atlantic Club Casino Hotel are without partners. The city has 12 properties."

Most people who are not Revel "fans" like myself appreciate the property for what it COULD be. Steve Wynn as owner would spell lights out for 3-4 casinos quickly. His name and knowledge would get players to give it a 4th or 5th chance. I say that because many like myself gave it more than 1 chance and still wish nothing but bad things on the current management and ownership. Oh yea, I also still wish Kevin DeSanctis and UKStages nothing but bad things in their future professional careers.

"Most people who are not Revel "fans" like myself appreciate the property for what it COULD be."

Amen to that.

I would go further & say the fate of Revel directly influences the fate of AC.

If you were a potential investor interested in renovating one of the other dumps on the boardwalk, & you look at the Revel property objectively, you might say to yourself, a $2.5 billion oceanfront investment like this went belly up in <1yr.?

Why am I here?

You don't need to be a rocket scientist to realize that AC casinos cannot continue to stay open indefinitely w/ double digit revenue losses month after month, year after year, with deteriorating properties.

I thought Revel could help change the game & momentum.

So far, it has , but in the wrong direction.

Despite the same old BS w/ this promo, I've seen some signs they may be starting to "get it" on the back end.

Despite the same old BS w/ this promo, I've seen some signs they may be starting to "get it" on the back end.

They may not have a chance. The floodgates appear to have opened:

"It sounded too good to be true — and it was. Two New Jersey gamblers yesterday sued the recently-revamped Revel casino for more than $35 million, claiming it “lured” patrons to its Atlantic City slot machines in July with a bogus promise to refund all losses.

The $2.6 billion Revel resort and casino “never intended to refund any slot losses,” but used its highly-publicized “Gamblers Wanted” campaign as a ruse to help bolster its bottom line after emerging from an embarrassing bankruptcy, according to the Manhattan federal court class-action lawsuit filed by Garden State gamblers Megan Boyd and Rakeen Henderson. The suit, on behalf of “tens of thousands” of slot players in five states and Washington DC, accuses Revel Entertainment Group of breach of contract, unjust enrichment and violating state consumer-protection laws.

Revel’s enticing print, TV and radio promos crowed, “All July long, we’re going to refund all slot losses” and “You really can’t lose . . . iIf you win, you win. If you lose, we’ll give it all back!” The suit alleges the claims were misleading and that Revel “relied on deceptively hidden rules to avoid paying any refunds at all,” arguing caveats to the promotion appeared only in “virtually illegible fine print” on the casino’s Web site and flashed for “one second” on TV ads."

after doing the promo, in addition to the loss rebate, The "R" is blowing me away with slot cash- the likes of which- I have not seen in AC in over a decade.

Your ADT is huge from having done the promo. The promo alone should have been their entire free play offering to you, but they were too stupid to turn off the usual marketing metrics and offerings so they also gave you huge money due to July's big ADT. I'm not sure how that situation is a good thing for the viability of the casino. If anything, it's just another example of how their management is sub-par.

LOL! Really...if only hoards of people descended on Revel every month intentionally trying to lose 6 figures as efficiently as possible. The casino just might make it!

All true, however:

1. as a CET player with a fairly consistent ADT over the past decade I've seen my slot cash dwindle to "meaningless"

2. I did similar promos @ Trop AC 3X & got zero slot cash during the loss rebates

3.If they were "clever" (ie devious) enuf to take out advantage VP on the front end, you might think they'd be clever enuf to not let me use it on the back end & turn off slot$ ?

4. I will say I'm getting the impression from hosts that this promo was not intended as a one time money grab but a longer term market share grab .

We''ll see.

re: #3 - They only took out the VP because Mr. Dancer warned them. Perhaps he didn't also spell out the implications of the bounceback offers to people playing the promo.

re: #4 - Hosts got almost all of the details of this promo wrong while it was going. IIRC, you were among the people who complained about that at the time. Why do you believe that they're correct now?

well, the only sorry comparison I have is CET hosts, where, even as a 7star phone calls & emails were often not returned, many "reserved" offers were not booked when I showed up to get them & there was no initiative shown. I have to say none of this has been a problem recently at R... quite the opposite , in fact.

Of course, we'll see what happens once my ADT deflates.

For now, I would say they at least have some hosts who at least have the potential, motivation, & seemed to be empowered, to take care of players.

This was never the case at CET, even competent hosts had little juice.

There doesn't seem to be a cap on losses. I wonder if "slot play" includes video poker here?

I did win up front.

Got a payout of $600 on a $1 machine after only playing about $53 of my $120 buy-in.

I decided to burn another $50 just to "see" if I'd still get the minimum rebate. And sure enough I did NOT get any slot play during the 20 week span.

Which was fine, because I was already up over $500 from the slot and in the next visit made another $96 on a $1 Quick Hit machine.

Add that to my Blackjack session winnings of around $700 and quick $120 on 3 card poker(just to keep my buddy company) and I had a heck of a Summer profit, thanks to Revel's WONDERFUL rebate bait and switch....er ... I mean Promotion!!!

Skimmed over this thread...any news on the lawsuits/gaming complaints?

The suits being brought that claim Revel was deceptive due to the 20-week 5% thing...whatever. Their ads may have been slimy, but you should read the fine print.

Whereas the allegations of allowing people to lose 5 figures, then tell them they are ineligible for the promo without refunding those losses via the standard 20-week format...that should be prosecuted.

I'm clearly behind on the times, but just curious if anything has happened since it all hit the fan.
