I'm not surprised, frankly.
Did Dancer piss him off, and Wiz said **** this!

That would be classic. And it's possible too...doesn't the show begin at 7:00PST? I guess I should have tuned in...lol
reasons for quitting. Family, time, he has a debilitating
disease. Typical excuses.

? I hope that's a joke.
Dancer bought it, apparently..
Quote: iluvdisco33You have to read between the lines here. Dancer recently slick-talked the Wiz into partnering with him for some diluted video poker promotion at the beautiful Riviera, and all they got out of it according to Dancer's article were pretty colored "premium" slot club cards. Good move tonight.
Hmmm...time to move to AZ, buy a 'vette, and sell "lessons" in Laughlin I suppose.
Another one was when they were talking about some guy who does work similar to the Wiz, and Dancer was like, I think I'd trust him over you, or he knows more about your area of expertise than you. Man, if I were the Wiz I'd have said something after the show. You show me up like that again like that on the radio and you can find yourself a new partner. In no circumstance do I believe the Wiz would have said something similar about Dancer, had they been discussing another video poker expert.
In short, I thought Dancer felt threatened by the Wiz from the start, and as a result, chemistry never developed.
I said it before in another post. The optimal pair would be Munchkin and the Wiz.
Quote: MaShuaiI listened to all the shows. Let's face it man. Everytime Munchkin was brought up, Dancer started to gush, oh I miss you, oh we need you around here, oh I wish you could come back etc. .
Dancer and Munchkin, thats why I stopped listening
in the first place. Dance lords it over Munchkin and
he couldn't do that with Mike. Dancer is an ass..
He said he used to be on the radio five times a week.
Teddys had great presence on the Show where he was the guest. He is local, with a podcast, Wiz and Teddy could schedule it around Teddys regular gig......I like this idea!

But thank you for the kind words, Paradigm. All that AND golf tips!
What are the odds..

Sounds like a prop bet

Munchkin
Over the PHONE? Are they insane? Its sucks when
Munchkin is on the phone, its sounds like he's at the
bottom of a well. Looks like an act of desperation
to me, like something finally blew up and a desperate
call was made to S Calif....
"Munch, can you help me out? Its hit the
fan, man, you have to save my show, I
can't do it alone"..
He's right about that part...
Audio-casts are good also.

Wasn't me, I never call the Wiz 'Shack'.
Edit: This was on Munchkins site and no, its not me.
"What happened, a desperate call in the middle
of the night to come back and save the show?
Did Shack finally take a swing at Dancers arrogant
ass?"
LOL!

Hilarious!! The star student will be the Western Regional Director for JB Hunt Trucking. Newer members won't get this so if your curiosity is piqued go ahead and ask. You'll either be happy or sorry that you did.
do they put a live video feed of the show on the station's website?

what? WHY?
did he just abruptly say "i quit" then walk out?
Quote: EvenBobThe Wiz just resigned from the radio show.

That's too bad: I think the Bob/Mike pairing has been the best to date. Others have commented that there may have been a personal issue between the two and if truly the case, I'd find it surprising. After all, it makes for more interesting radio if the two co-hosts aren't in lock-step on everything anyway.
Oh well, I think they did a great job together while it lasted.
I enjoyed the year I did the show, but I didn't make much money from it, and it was more time consuming that how it may seem on the air. Thanks to everyone who listened to the show.
Wiz, you'll be missed, but best of luck in all your future endeavors.
Quote: AlanMendelsonYou guys made money from the radio show? Wow. I thought it was just to promote your other stuff.
Well, you won't make much money if you're sponsoring the show that's paying you, pressumably, per appearance. It's like trying to make money by selling stuff to yourself and getting a commission.

Quote: Zcore13I'm not mean spirited, but I did not enjoy listening to him.
I quit listening a few months ago because of Dancer. I enjoyed the content of the show, but would get
too aggravated with him. I continue to download every episode hoping Dancer is absent, otherwise I delete.
I thought Munchkin was fantastic. I would like to hear a Wizard-Munchkin duo, but that's not gonna happen.
But I will say that drama and entertainment are part of a good show. You guys wouldn't be having this lengthy conversation if it weren't for that stuff.
If Mike does decide to do another radio talk show, I'm pretty sure it would have to be with someone more dramatic than himself again.
It's just part of how things work. But it's possible to not be so hated, even if you are overly dramatic, I think.
I know nothing of the guy, FWIW.
Quote: sodawaterwiz should just make his own podcast. i'd listen to that
I would listen, for sure. As it is I'll probably continue listening to GWAE. Dancer doesn't grind on me as he appears to on a lot of others, and I like Munchkin.

Yes, I'm very confused. But based on boymimbo's follow-up comment, I'm guessing it has to do with JerryLogan.
Quote: WizardYes, yesterday was my last show. The reason is I have spread myself too thin, which is causing me too much stress. I also need to spend more time with the family. In addition to the radio show I will be cutting way back on consulting work, keeping only what few existing clients I like. Fortunately, Munch was immediately available and willing to do the show again. We all plan that I will return frequently as a guest or substitute host. The parting was on good terms. I think the Bob bashing is going too far and mean spirited.

I was under the impression that after losing your job with the Venetian, you were going to be in for at least a little bit of "rough times" financially. Given this comment, and the poll on which $30-50K car to buy for your wife, I guess I was sorely mistaken!
Wizard, I am curious if you don't mind relating a little bit, are your main clients gaming companies looking for analysis, or independent game inventors? Or casinos themselves? It's surprising to me there is enough consulting business out there to support you and your family, just based on the number of successful new games that are out there every year. I guess all the unsuccessful games need the math analysis too.

Recall that Wiz won the WoV NFL pick challenge going 70% against the spread this season.....my guess is that he wasn't just making those picks for the forum challenge and that likely made him a few "real $$" at sports books around Vegas....I keep thinking about that percentage against the spread, it is unbelievable except for the fact it was layed out before our eyes each week.
By the way, great job again to Mission.....I am going to need to find some time next season to get involved so I can show off how the average guy can easily go 42% against the spread ;-)!!

Look up Rob Singer and Jerry Logan on this forum. Rob singer is the pen name for a well known and controversial VP player. He allegedly drives a Corvette and is successful at VP. Jerry Logan allegedly works for JB Hunt, lives in Arizona and took VP lessons from Rob. Both are permanently banned from this forum. I don't think Rob and Bob Dancer get along that well.
I don't believe anyone knows who Jerry really is but Rob is known by the Wizard and others here and is very well known in gambling circles. I enjoyed a lot of their posts and you may as well. It was always lively when they were around.
Quote: 1BBI don't think Rob and Bob Dancer get along that well.
"Rob Singer" is, itself, an attack on Bob Dancer;-)

I dunno, if I may quote the wizard
Quote: WizardSecond, a huge warning that you should not expect anything near going 71% using this strategy. Almost all my success is simply due to falling on the right side of the bell curve, or what some might call "good luck."
...
Personally, I don't bother with it, because advantages are very thin, and you have to drive all over town to grab soft lines. To do it properly you should have runners (somebody who makes bets for others) to help you out.
Obviously, he could be fibbing, but I don't think the Wiz is like that...so my guess is he hasn't had any appreciable income due to sports bets.
