Seven men have been indicted for cheating at Cleveland's new Horseshoe Casino. They were caught past-posting at Blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold'em, Roulette, and Craps.

They were charged with illegal gambling, a fifth-degree felony, maximum one year in prison and a $2,500 fine.

Past Posting is so stupid especially with the camera technology in casinos these days. No wonder this idea came out of Cleveland.

I can't stress enough in enough topics on Ohio casinos the lack of procedural consistency between dealers. I'm also appalled at the lack of punishment for these blatant cheaters. A fifth-degree felony? Maximum 1 year in jail and $2500 fine??

I'm pretty sure if you're convicted for the same crimes in Nevada, you go to jail a lot longer. I'm watching the really old Travel Channel special on Vegas cheaters... I'm pretty sure they don't take it quite as lightly.

Minimum of 5 years in Prison, and $25,000 fine minimum... more for second offenses.

The current penalties are not enough to stop an expert team from coming in and taking the house for a lot of money. With the dealer inexperience, a good team would get away with it three times, for somewhere in the vicinity of $50,000. They probably have good lawyers who will get them out of the prison sentence and get the fine reduced. They'll claim first offense and overcrowded prisons...

When I was younger (and stupider) I would double down when the dealer was tending the other side of the table. When I slid my chips up to double I'd slide chips off the top to the main stack with index finger making them even. Every double down, and some splits, were really quadruple downs. I was never caught or even suspected. Is this a form of past-posting? Seems like something silly and stupid to do time for.

That's "capping". And yup, pretty dumb to go to jail for. Every single person I've caught just plays dumb and is allowed to simply return the pay out.

The logistics of getting away with past posting in craps are mind boggling.

Probably not as hard as you think when you offer 100x odds. A player uses a mixture of greens and reds to set odds... the stack is somewhere between 15-25 chips. The player plays in the 5-7 position, so as to be the last paid, the dealer goes to break down the stack, grabs chips, and the player starts to "grab chips thinking he's got his pay out" where he actually adds another 6-12 (even number) to the bottom or top. It would be easier on a 2-1 payout.

Richard Marcus says on his cheating blog that the teams have
descended on the two new OH casinos and will be there for at
least 2 years. Thats how it works.
