It's official. It becomes The Quad in December.

Thanks for sharing that article.

Another generic casino name, IMO. Almost as bad as the Dee and the Downtown Grand.

The renovations are much needed, but of course that means they'll charge much more for the rooms - which kills half the appeal for me.

I wonder how much they paid for the market research that led them to a worse name?

Clearly, Caesars needs an idea man. The Quad! I guess they think that everyone is going to flock to The Quad. I guess their budget is just big enough for "generic casino". Turkeys!

At least Terrible's is terrible! I'd visit something that's terrible before a quad.

(Still ranting) Call it "The Broken Elevator". That way, people will know what to expect!

I guess the trend is away from theming casinos. The Cosmopolitan was so generic it was hard to pick it out from the walkway--we had to back up to see "Aria" and "Cosmopolitan" on the towers. No fountains or volcanoes or pagodas to let you know you had gotten to where you were headed.

When I open a casino, I'm definitely calling it "Generic Casino." It's basically going to look like a Hollywood, only without the movie theme. Oh, and it'll be competently run.

Aria has a very pretty infinity fountain in front of it. It's not grandiose or anything, but it's beautiful.

Seriously, The Quad? What're the odds that Will Ferrell will run naked down LVB & into that casino at some point?

I would have named it Koko's and themed it after Kokopelli.

Damn! I'm good!

Won't this cause superstitious hotties to stay away ?

Among the Hopi, Kokopelli carries unborn children on his back and distributes them to women; for this reason, young girls often fear him.

No more than they would avoid Vlasic pickles, methinks. Besides, I think that would apply narrowly to Hopi hotties.

So basically it's going to be a Hollywood Casino, because when I think of the generic casino concept today, Hollywood is EXACTLY what comes to mind. However if you're going to run it competently (with good service), then you'll be much better than a Hollywood ever dreams of being.

They obviously are trying to invoke the college crowd. This makes sense, as they no longer have O'Shea's to visit. I agree that it's a stupid name, but I think it's dumber that they aren't trying to bulldoze the place to make way for a better hotel or even just leave the land as an entertainment district. Obviously, the funding only warrants a renovation...

Caesars' budget for demolishing O'Shea's, remodeling the Imperial Palace, and building Linq is $500 million. Considering the size and ambition of Linq, and the dilapidated condition of Imperial Palace's 2,600 rooms, I'm skeptical. Either the actual cost will balloon well beyond the projected $500 million, or Linq won't be nearly as grand as Caesars would have us think. Am I being too pessimistic?

I think that "Linq won't be nearly as grand as Caesars would have us think". The budget for Tropicana was $180 million. Project Linq involves the tear down of O'Sheas, the construction of the ferris wheel, the construction of the new restaurants, and the renovation of the public spaces and the rooms.

Apparently the penny-pinching suits over at Cearsars are going to cut corners at every opportunity they get. Here is the latest rendering:

Notice that the old Imperial Palace tower exterior has barely been updated:

It puts on a light and water show too. Too bad the driveway looks like an airport terminal.

I got a good laugh out of this one, and so true as well.

I took the survey with "Hotel 3535" on it; both of their final name choices were horrible. But if "The Quad''s room rates don't go up, I'll still stay there while using the $750 in comps I earned this summer by earning less than 200 Tier Credits while doing it. If they do go up, then I'll just move to Bally's or Flamingo.

If they made the rooms a little smaller, then the

The name kinda makes sense to me if the prices are still going to be bargain-basement. If you're trying to attract college students, how bad of a name is it really?

A lot of nights in Dec. are $18.50--a bargain even for LV in Dec. Unless there are serious sanitary or security issues at a property, I find it hard to pass that up.

Rebranding Imperial Palace will be a worthy task and challenge. Monopoly names come to mind; like Board Walk and Park Place
that are far too classy for this place. No - too much memory of its unglorious past suggest that Baltic Ave., maybe of worthy
consideration.

A more fitting name would be "The Dump." Years ago, dealers were trained to card count and, at one time, they shuffled up the
cards everytime the card count became favorable (I kid you not). A local attorney took out a lawsuit against IP for this very reason.
We never heard the results of that lawsuit.

I dropped by there to see how the renovations went two weeks before Christmas of last year. It is somewhat nicer on the outside but the new lighting on the inside and interior design are absolutely horrible. Feels like you stepped into some dark generic Rite Aid with table games. And the blackjack rules are horrible (6:5 and hit soft 17) and yet they are crowded with people.

I doubt it will get much better, but the interior design isn't scheduled to be complete until February or March.

Great place to book a stay and pick up freeplay, then proceed out the casino ASAP even with a room. I've stayed there a couple of times but never went to the rooms.

The casino itself has much easier access and it is basically new on the inside. Same lousy games and pay tables. They have to pay for it some how.

I stayed there couple times in 2013. The room is like a motel room with a loud AC but they finally can afford a LCD TV.
