Is the MGM photographer trying to tell us something?

The photo in the advertisement shows several females on either side of the bar but no males anywhere in sight.

New orientation for the MGM Grand?

True, I can see no males.
Neither can I see any females, or even a photograph.

Sorry folks... they emailed me an invitation to a "bargain" room and I have no idea how to get the email's photo into a post on this forum.
I'll look on their website but each page loads like molasses in winter.

I think you have to right-click the photo, select, "Save picture as," call it something, then upload it to a sharing site, such as flickr, and then just post the link to the photo on here. Otherwise, you could use the img=url function closing it in brackets and the URL is the webpage the image is on.

Let me see:

EDIT: Yup, so if I can figure it out, so can you. I suck at this kind of stuff. That's also not my picture, it came from this website:

If its an email, look for the "Trouble viewing this email?" Link, and copy / paste that.

Okay. Let's do this one step at a time.

First, do you use web mail (Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc.)? Or, another way to put it: do you use your web browser (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Opera, etc.) to look at your email?

If you don't know the answer to either question, please just give us the domain in your email address (the text that comes after the "@" symbol).

By the way, I went to the MGM site, and it seems fairly snappy.

As FoolsGold, Toth, Dr. Toth, TinkersDam, Souschef and Escoffier I use hotmail, which I generally view through FireFox.
I also have less active mail accounts at Gmail and Yahoo which I tend to reserve for different identities, including Fleastiff and Epicurean. I generally view those via Firefox but sometimes have to use Chrome or IE.

The Email was received today and said seven day room sale with something about Ending the Summer the Right Way or the like.

The photo featured female customers and female bartenders with nary a male in sight which made me think that perhaps MGM is seeking alternative markets and some computer has me misclassified.

If the females are attractive, it could work for most demographics.

I would say the target demographic is 21-45 single or social males who like to drink and gamble, assuming the women are models or very attractive patrons. Think Budweiser Bikini Babes or whatever that ad campaign was. Think Hooter's ads. Think late night 1-900 babe commercials. Now go take a cold shower - that was too much thinking. Nary a male in sight, as was said.

Okay.

It is very possible that the photo that appeared in your email was actually just a link to the photo somewhere on the Internet.

I don't know anything about how to view the message source code in Hotmail, but if you can view the source it should be easy to copy the link and paste it into a post here to make the image appear. Perhaps someone here who uses Hotmail can coach you. It should be very simple.

However, if the photo is not a link, it is actually an "attachment" within the MGM email.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, an attached photo can be saved to your computer and then posted onto an image hosting site (www.imgur.com is probably the easiest/simplest). You can then paste a link to the photo for it to appear in a message here.

It doesn't mean that anyone would have access to your email account.

This is important: What did the error message say?

Thank you for the link. It doesn't give an error message -- it just takes one to a login page. However, it does help.

The actual link to the images (the photo of the girls is split into two images) is quite conspicuously embedded within the above link that you provided. It starts with "www.mgmgrand.com". There is a formatting discrepancy that converted all of the slashes ("/") to "%2f", but when each "%2f" is replaced with a slash, we get the link posted by miplet (but with some extra useless subdirectory info on the end).

Here is the photo appearing in a forum message (necessarily showing the split in the image):

By the way, you might want to disable "html rendering" in all of your your email accounts -- almost every time you open an html message with photos and links, your opening of that message is recorded by the message's sender and others. And when you click on a link, they are recording marketing info on you.

I think it's important that one understands rudimentary computer concepts, such as linking and embedding images and such as knowing the difference between what is on the Internet and what is actually on one's computer.

It's really simple stuff, and just a few additional baby steps in an individual's computer literacy can make a huge difference.

Maybe Summer is the blonde and the brunette is scheming to “finish her off right”. Symbolically, Summer is holding a feminine glass (chalice) while the brunette is holding a phallus shaped glass. Summer’s body language suggests interest and reception to the undisclosed proposition. This POV advertisement makes me want to hear what is being said and be close enough to participate in the conversation.

Several random thoughts;

I comPLETEly nailed the Target Demographic. However, there are 3 men in the picture; one whose head is above the woman in the right foreground, one directly behind the right banner, talking to the background people; his legs are all you can see. And the 3rd is just off-camera right; you can see his arm with a sports watch. YOU, Mr. TD, are at the table with two airbrushed and augmented cleavages; the one on the left showing plenty of sideboob is your date. And in the center distance is the lovely naturally endowed blonde you've got your eye on, cuz you are a PLAY-uh, bay-bee. All overseen by multiple state-of-the-art screens that can display any sports programming required to keep you there, if the bodacious women are not enough.

Very interesting to see what you all are seeing here versus what I'm seeing as well. Definitely symbols in the glasses, the shapes of the jewelry, other stuff you're commenting on.

Also, Tupp, thanks very much for dissecting that whole situation; I was doing things you suggest already but not knowing why, courtesy Norton; now I know a bit more what I'm guarding against by individually unlocking my emails (which is a pain but I figured there was a reason). Very useful effort on your part. Gotta love how they embed code into images. Bleah...

So true. I've always thought the general population in a casino is uglier than the rest of society. Better looking women don't want to be disappointed by gambling when they can play men and be guaranteed winnings.

I take it that by this you agree with me that the image is one that is aimed at young, attractive females who are interested primarily in other young, attractive females and that such an image perhaps announces a new emphasis in the casino's marketing program.

As for casino marketing and the real world ... well, most of a casino's patrons seem primarily interested in cocktails made with Geritol.

So I sat down to play. Blackjack at the MGM. I played 3 hands and the shoe was going to shuffled. I got up to look around and smoke. I thought to myself that was fast. I sat back down and played the entire shoe. Then the machine popped up with a fresh rack of cards.

I played a few more hands and then left.
