I've visited twice. In 2009 the Mrs. and I brought our then-4-year-old and his auntie. We mostly played midway games, though I did get in some slots time and enjoyed their rotating "carousel" of slot machines. Do they still have that?

In 2012, the Mrs. and I stayed at the Wynn, but walked over for some low-limit poker. We arrived at the opening of the poker room, and I won a $75 high-hand bonus with only queens full of deuces during the first hour.

I'll answer my own question. According to their website:

Play the Carousel
Las Vegas' only Circus Carousel, that actually spins while you play your favorite penny slot and watch the Circus Acts.

1st hotel I ever stayed at in Vegas
I did visit the place a few years ago since I was staying next door at Hilton Grand Vacations
I made sure to catch a free circus act. It was pretty good

First hotel I stayed at as a kid. My parents took me when I was 11.

I hadn’t been back till earlier this year. I walked through and thought it was extremely depressing. And it smelled like sh**. Literally. Like there was a sewage leak or something. I left after 5 mins.

I clicked on this thread to say something similar to what you said about Circus Circus. On a Gambling website, Circus Circus "Won," as Worst Casino You Have Visited?" It was voted as Worst Casino by a landslide. If this were The Razzies, it would have "won" for "Worst Picture,"

I can't say I've stayed there but I did stay Luxor and walked down to Excalibur to play craps with friends and thought that was possibly the worst hotel/casino I'd walked into on the strip.

While I've always thought "theme" hotels were fun (i.e. Excalibur and Circus Circus) as I've gotten older they've lost their mystique on me. That and the overbearing smell of cigarette smoke makes me gag.

Everybody needs to do a bit of expectation management before going to Circus Circus. I love it there. I am so glad that they didn't tear that place down. The only problem is that it's pretty far from the Strip. If Circus Circus was on the other side of the strip (South of Mandalay Bay or Tropicana), I think it'd get more business.

It is fairly obviously what MGM thinks of owning Circus Circus. They have owned the property for over 10 years and have yet to add it to their Mlife loyalty program.

Was there on Christmas Day about 12 years ago. You could not move. Could not get near the circus act stage.

Looked to buy a nice watch at the Tony Stuart, Ltd. shop but could not find it.

Jay Sarno didn't set the world on fire with it but the guys he sold it to, Bennett and Pennington, did.

They made buckets full of money, hauling it in hand over fist.

Grind joints, places that cater to fleas and their families can be very, very profitable.

MGM obviously don't know how to run such a casino, and it shows.

Agreed. We learned how to play skeeball there watching some other folks, modified it a bit, and always won the grand prize at Cedar Point. I have several electric guitars, but all the giant, and I mean giant, stuffed apes were given away.

I enjoy the chicken in the pot game. Somewhere I read that you can get 2 for 1 game coupons if you break a $ 100 bill in the office, near the McDonalds. You gotta look for it carefully.

My brother, a right-hander, used to roll it so that it would bounce off the left side, and he could consistently get 40 points on each roll. Afterward, they limited the top prizes to something like 2 per day. (Not saying it's cause and effect, but it's possible!)

That's exactly what we saw, but I just went with the easy roll straight up the middle racking up 40 points at a pop. Back at home, 3 smalls = 1 medium, 3 mediums = 1 large, 3 large I think was player "choice". Equal Giant Ape.

Here's a good walkthrough of Slots O Fun and Circus Circus Las Vegas (starting at 4:40). I just noticed this guy's channel. He mentions a lot of things about Circus Circus that have been discussed here. Like him, I'd never been to the back of the casino! So many gift shops!!
