First off, I will fully admit I'm a Diamond card holder in Total Rewards, and have been for over 7 years. I've earned nearly enough points to maintain it through 2014 already. If that makes me biased, so be it, but I travel a lot for work and family, and there are Caesars properties EVERYWHERE I've lived and since the card and points follow, it only makes sense for me to be loyal...

That being said, there are a LOT of people on this forum who have great disdain for Caesars. Some go so far as to be very vocal about boycotting the company. Given some of the stories, I don't blame them; there are a lot of things the corporation has done to the detriment of the industry. With limited property exposure (i.e. Atlantic City or Las Vegas only), I can understand why these people feel that strongly against the group.

However, if you have not been to Horseshoe Tunica, YOU MUST GO! This property is BY FAR AND AWAY the best of the Caesars properties. They still follow (for the most part) the rules set by Jack Binion (who followed his dad's rules); treat the gambler right. This is evident in a lot of ways...

1) Gambling options- The casino offers some of the best games out there. 100x odds on craps. Single Deck Blackjack, H17, RSA, DA2, No Double after split and about 50% penetration. Double-deck H17, RSA, DA2, DAS with 75% penetration. Low minimums on Baccarat. Pai Gow Poker (one of the few in Tunica). The 6-deck game isn't anything special, but follows Tunica rules. Avoid Video Poker THERE, but go next door (about 100 feet away) and you'll find full-pay machines at Tunica Roadhouse.

2) Comps- For those of you have problems with Caesars comping procedures, this property throws the rules out the window. If you gamble PERIOD, you can get a free buffet. Gamble a little more, they'll pick up your room and do some cafe comps. You do have to do more to get a Steakhouse comp, but those should be a little harder to come by. BTW, NONE of this comes out your reward credit balance, and you don't even have to worry. If you gamble more than an hour at any table, the pit staff will ASK YOU what you might need.

3) Easy to access Casino Hosts- I generally don't require services of a host... however, at Horseshoe, they make it easy to access them. They have a desk open during the important hours and they will answer any questions and act as concierge for whatever you might need. My host was great about getting my entire stay comped over a weekend.

There are a lot of reasons to hate Caesars... I get that. But Horseshoe Tunica defies this and truly treats the gambler with respect. This means a lot and hence why writing such a glowing review.

I had a great experience there as well.

Although, I have positive things to say about all Caesars properties because I play games that the "odds they set" do not matter - Pai Gow Poker / Tiles / Poker Room / Race & Sportsbook.

They give me free rooms and a host for my tiny bit of play, and that's why I spend as much of my gambling budget as I can with them.

They have the largest Vig of any Sports book that I've shopped. I waited to place my bets on the Superbowl until I got the a Coast casino.

How much do you play to get the comped weekend rooms and restaurant food? Am I correct in assuming you don't have to go through the "Total Rewards" website or receive a mailed offer beforehand?

Tunica has Cotton fields, Soybean fields and casinos. That's all there is. Of course they have to offer generous food and room comps to lure people from Memphis. Pretty much all over Tunica you have to beg for comps, but you always get them.

100x at the craps table. Thats at all Horseshoes, I think. Some people probably even take advantage of it.

Yeah the 100x odds is a Horseshoe standard. However, the BJ games vary by the market, and Horseshoe has the best Single Deck and Double Deck games in Tunica.

There's NOTHING to do but gambling, but for people on this forum, that's probably what they want.

In Tunica, you should have a player's card, but it's better to go through the hosts to get your rooms comped. You can go through the website, but you may not get the best deal. I play quite a bit for the weekend room, but the buffets at Horseshoe don't really seem to make a difference when you play. However, they have a lot of rooms at Harrah's and usually get you one there for free, even on the weekend.

I've never liked Caesars, I don't like how the casino is laid out.
Its seems like a lot of empty space with a bunch of gaming
tables scattered around. Its also too damn big. I don't like
a half mile trek to use the bathroom.

Yes. I was surprised that the Evil Empire is nimble enough to give local CMs the autonomy to compete properly.

LOL. True indeed but I was thinking more along the lines of the casinos realizing that comps may draw players but nothing else will because there simply is nothing else in Tunica to act as a significant draw.

In this case, I was referring to Caesars Entertainment as a corporation, not any of the specific properties...

That being said, the bathrooms are not the best placed in Horseshoe. They are especially far away from the table games area, though the high limit room has some BEAUTIFUL private bathrooms that you can use. They let you use them if you're in the nearby Asian room as well.

Ceasars is a mixed bag: part evil, part wonderful. It's weird that this company which set out to destroy the field bet in craps is the same company with enough integrity to not rip us off with resort fees at their Vegas properties.

Almost every casino in the world pays triple on the 12 for field bets. Most Ceasars properties only pay double on the 12.

By the way, Horseshoe does pay triple on the 12. Harrah's and Roadhouse in Tunica both pay double.

Sounds good, I'll add this to my to do list, but I'm not
sure when I'll be able to get there. I think I've
gotten a post-card about a Caesars sponsored
type junket to there. So the right deal on that
might make it happen.

I'm very loyal to Caesars Palace in Vegas and for several reasons:

1. I got married at a craps table with a Rabbi and the whole family around, smack in the middle of the Palace casino, arranged by management as a favor to me. I will be devoted to them just for that.

2. Hotel service is the absolute best.

3. Video poker sucks and Ive told management that to their face, sometimes face to face at private dinners.

4. Best Craps crews in Vegas.

The casino layout is mixed up but that's because Caesars Palace is really an old casino that grew in bits and pieces. Agreed, its a mess to walk around. But New York City grew in bits and pieces too. Modern casinos mimic the concentric circles of development, but the older properties grow arms and legs where they can and sometimes the left arm pops out a right leg, so to speak.

I've only seen triple on the 12 in the field. Did something change?

3,4,5 odds in craps is good enough for me considering the average Vegas gambler plays single odds, and I'll never do more than 5x.

I admit that except for Rincon I have not been to any Caesars props. Ive stayed at Bellagio, MGM, NYNY, Ballys and have played at every other strip casino at one time or another, and prefer Caesars palace over all of them.

I've played Craps in lots of places; I don't think I've ever played on a Triple (12) table before.

I went to Harrah's Tunica two or three times when I was a diamond player. However, they rated my play at about 1/3 to 1/2 what similar play was getting me in Vegas. Since I did not have unlimited BR, getting my rating correct was very important to me. I played at Horseshoe a little bit, but Harrah's Tunica was paying the bill on the trip so I needed to concentrate my play with them.

I agree, Harrah's was very good to me when I first started playing at higher stakes. They gave me more attention than I probably deserved (although I was running good on the craps tables for a couple of years, so I was putting a high total of bets through the table even though my BR was not that large). Now I won't even qualify for a platinum card this year. If I was within driving distance to Horseshoe I would definitely be giving it some play.

Other than the NM casinos with the free Buy and Field bets, the rules in MS for craps seem to be some of the best around.

Alan, I saved this pic years ago when you posted it on another board; I think it is very cool, and probably the BEST result one can hope for at a craps table.

Just wondering, did you tip the Rabbi with a hard way bet?

Interesting. The Wizard's craps survey page says that every casino in Las Vegas pays triple on the 12 except Riviera, Casino Royale, and the Ceasars' properties. All the Reno casinos likewise pay triple (except Ceasars-owned Harrah's.)

I should not have written "Almost every casino in the world". I should have written "Almost every casino in Nevada." Apparently Atlantic City casinos only pay double.

MrV thanks for digging up the photo. I was there this weekend and played at a table with two of the crew guys who were on the table.

Getting a Rabbi to perform a ceremony like this is harder than trying to slide dice without getting caught... except if you're at Wynn.

Notice the layout: pays triple on the 12. Pre fire bat days.

And since then, I had cataract surgery and no longer wear glasses.
