All,
I'm looking at booking a hotel room downtown for a trip out there next month and somewhere while attempting to book I ran across something saying that Neonopolis featured a bowling alley, retail shops, movie theater, etc. etc. The last time I was out there, neonopolis looked like a downtrodden, run-down mess and I didn't think anything was in there, but has something changed?

Being as i can't find anything with the mighty google speaking of neonopolis' revival, I'm assuming things are as gloomy as ever, but I knew this would be the place to ask for the most current updates.

That source must be very dated. As far as I know the number of places open for business at Neonopolis is zero. However, it stands as a monument to the failure of Eminent Domain.

Most recent info I could find was from the Las Vegas Review Journal June 20, 2011. It was writing about how neonopolis was looking up and had 3 open retailers at the time. Not sure if "looking up" meant that those 3 managed to cut their losses and run, but even if they were still there, the place looked so beat up the last time I was there that I wouldn't even think to cross the threshold of what i assume to be the entrance to even check it out.

Thanks for the reply.

The last time I was there, about a year ago, it was at least still clean. As I recall the escalators were still running to the second floor, although they had nothing to go up there for. The movie theater still had posters from about 2007.

I googled heart attack grill. And here's what I came up with. I'm not sure how ironic this is though... the place IS called Heart Attack Grill.

In any case, it gave me a guilty chuckle.

The Toy Store run by Johnny on Pawn Stars is worth a trip for the nostalgia of our youth. Amazing what the asking price is on some of that stuff.

The HAG is a real hoot. They make you sign a waiver upon entering so they're not liable in case of well, ya know. The nurse-waitstaff are dressed up similar to Hooters girls, and like the sign says, they "like it in the can". Notice ambulance outside.

Do they really let anyone over 350 pounds eat free? In Buffalo that would mean half the eaters would be subsidizing the other half.

I'd like to go for the "hot nurses," but hope my masculinity won't be impugned if I just drink the Fat Bastard wine.

On another topic, I think that GoFaster87 could be challenged into some kind of eating challenge there during WoV-con, but he hasn't posted in a while.

Yes, they've featured this restaurant on the Travel Channel on some of those places to pig out. The guy who started it was actually a nutritionist at one time and got fed up with people breaking diets. It started down in AZ, and it's interesting to see they are making it a chain. I will HAVE to visit one in the future. Maybe I can stuff 200 lbs of anvil down my shirt...

Wasn't there some discussion of where to have HotBlonde's celebration dinner when she wins the weight loss challenge?
