I guarantee if you were a verified casino servalance person there would be a ton of questions and lot's of chatter.

I assume that most knew I was, since I mentioned it so frequently over a number of years. I think I had maybe two members question me about it for the whole however many years I've been here, and one was a short lived guy that got the axe after <100 posts. The other was EB, and we talk about everything anyways.

In short, I assumed no one really cares for what happens in the dungeon. But whoever mentioned MST3K, yeah. It's mostly just that, all day long.

It snowed today. I prefer the suspense rather than the set up ;)

Besides, old folks are the only people I get along with. If they're in the hospital, I'll have no one to talk to.

Was just quoting your Avatar.

Bah, I missed the reference, what with the show being cancelled 12 years before I was even born. All I remember was grandpa watching repeats while I sang "The Fishing Hole" with grandma.

The avatar came from some old WoV codger who dubbed me The Sheriff and used to rag my ass everyday. I guess I took it all as a compliment and stuck with it =)

I have not put up my opinion on this question before now, because I think it was an excellent place for regular members to discuss it without moderator input, but I'd like to make a factual comment. I was offline from Saturday night late until Wed. am with other activities and travelling (3 1/2 days on Eastern US time). I came back to 8 pages of recent threads, most with numerous comments, so well over 100 active threads, approximately 1000 posts, about 25 new members, all of which took me about 12 hours to read (and comment on a few, and do a few administrative tasks). I really can't call that kind of participation a "dead" forum, regardless of traffic trends.

Is this still being called into question? I've already had my background questioned and I have answered every single time. The thread that was requested was created, and I further advised that I would provide more details via PM if needed, and there was zero follow up to that.

The focus on Surveillance isn't to thwart AP. We're here to provide asset and liability protection. As long as someone wins via legitimate means, I don't care how they do it. Have luck, coupons, promotions, I don't care at all. Commit a cheat at play, and you have my attention.

If you have some sort of fear of who I am, then address it.

No I was just pointing out that you came in at a bad time with a bunch of posers (I think you know this) That put a damper on your welcome. Each new surveillance person probably has slightly different information. Each casino is different in what they look for. Each surveillance person probably looks at different stuff.

I'll give you a past example. During the old days of Sigma at certain casinos some of the surveillance guys looked for players who went from playing 1 coin slowly to playing 5 coins fast . If you were caught doing this certain casinos sent security to 86 you. The same casino on a different shift was mostly heat free. It seems that one person didn't care, yet the other person had a hard on for AP's.

I hope I am not embarrassed but I believe Alan had health issues that required 1 or more transplants. He is definitely a survivor.
Just had a granddaughter of a close friend die last week waiting for a heart transplant. Sadly they gave her 2 years, but in less than 4 months she OD'd on meth and other drugs. Leaves 2 little girl ages 4 and 2, she was 23, without a mother.

In Alan did not want that known, I apologize. But I believe he posted that on this forum ?

I do, in fact, read every thread every week (mostly every day), with the caveat that there have been some here and there I've not seen before being directed to it, perhaps a matter of hours, a few times it took a day or so. I also do not have anyone blocked. I think that's part of what I've offered to do as a moderator. Other people in green or not have their own way of operating that may or may not resemble mine.

Having said that, I'm not willing to claim I've read everything ever posted on here; I do miss things. For example, I had 20 threads open last night when my eyes simply quit on me. When I got up this morning, my computer had done an update and restart, and that lost my place in all those threads, which I've tried to go back and review anyway. But if I missed somebody's swear word or insult or something and it gets made into an issue 3 months from now because nobody reported it to me as a problem either, so it goes, and I file it under selective enforcement.

There are other times something doesn't get seen immediately by me, like if I'm travelling or doing other things and am offline for several days. A lot of times, the other mods have gotten there first, which is great as we all work to be timely, and I try to read everything in a thread before taking what might be a duplicate action. But no, we don't have a formal schedule, we don't have particular sub-forums assigned, and we do work to support each other on necessary actions and decisions.

I understand what you're saying. Yes, I do agree with the circumstances being less than desirable.

Really, the biggest hesitation I have towards revealing any personal information, is the possibility of words said here, having an effect on my job. I'm more than happy to go into whatever detail is desired in a private message, but publicly, I do tend to be limited in my personal information.

In regards to AP involvement, the current and last casino I have worked Surveillance in, have had incredibly superstitious table game departments. They fall under the typical "get that dealer off the table, he can't make a hand", and have had tendencies of making irrational decisions from time to time. As a department responsible for liability and game protection, it's our job to inform them of the necessary information.

Is someone counting at a table? Maybe. I'll run an analysis of their play, coupled with bet volumes, deviations from strategy, oddities in behavior or other elements, and report back my findings. I'll advise of whether or not their knowledge and displayed skill is a threat to the casino.

Professionally, we have a huge web of various regulations and rules to abide by, and that's what we do. We ensure that the gaming that is being conducted, is being conducted within the legal parameters.

Non professionally, I just want to see players have fun at the table. If someone is able to make a buck or a thousand doing so, I encourage it. I did outline some basics of what our department does in the thread I created, and would be quite happy extending that information in whatever direction aids the forum.

What BBB said, except I might be a little less stringent on the Rules, so she might take action on something that I actually read, but didn't feel compelled to Suspend or formally Warn.

That's not to say that I disagree with any decisions, in general. I don't send the other Admins a message saying, "Yeah, I saw x post, but I think it's within reason enough." Thus, if another Admin Warns/Bans over something, I probably agree that it violates the Rules, just not to enough of an extent to cause me to act.

And...I try to read every thread, but the Election Thread...I'm sorry, sometimes I just can't do it.

You only need one kidney to live perfectly well.

There are many people walking around with only 5% kidney function who don't know they have kidney disease. Even with 5% kidney function you won't feel sick.

In my case I became an insulin dependent diabetic when I was 24. My kidneys started to fail when I was 41 and for 15 years I tried to slow their failure with a vegetarian diet.

A little more than 7 years ago I had the transplants after being on dialysis about six months.

Having one kidney does not mean God short changed you. But being born with half a deck upstairs is a legitimate problem.

Yeah, the people on here are too critical of common (but wrong) descriptors.

I remember being on my cell phone with a client, they were on a landline and suddenly the signal went in and out.

I said, "You're breaking up."

They were real offended, stating, "Excuse me but I'm on a landline. I'm not breaking up, you are!"

I was like, "Wow, okay, I'm breaking up!" Yeah, that makes a lot of sense, when a phone signal is intermittent people state, "Hey, I'm breaking up."

People need to loosen up a bit.
