I checked out AREA15 today
Not everything is open
Its very very trippy inside
Love all the art work outside and inside
Its kind of a nightclub/latest in VR/Art/food
The latest in VR looked pretty neat, Birdfly
You lay on your stomach and they attach your arms to a flaps device for wings
Looks pretty neat
One bar allows you to throw axes

It's free to go in and wander about, but the main Art Installation, Mega Mart, was expensive to go in to ( ~ $ 50-ish I think ). It was sold-out when we were there, but not sure we would have done it anyway based on the ticket price.

Website: area15.com

I took a few pictures while we there:

I finally checked out Area 15 today.

Let me start with the basics. It's free to get in. The web site makes it sound like a big deal to get tickets in advance, which I had. However, when I was there, around noon on a Sunday, I think anyone could have walked right in.

The web site emphasizes that parking is limited, but when I was there, I had no trouble finding a spot. There is a big lot off Sirius Ave, where I parked and other smaller lots on the other sides of the main building.

The facility is a big warehouse type building with no windows. Inside it is pretty dark with electronic dance music playing, if my understanding is correct of what EDM is. There is a common space that is open to the public with some Burning Man kind of art scattered about. Off to the sides are various "experiences" one must pay extra for. There are also some bars and restaurants, which I didn't try.

The two main Experiences are the Mega Mart and Van Gogh exhibit.

The Mega Mart is by Meow Wolf, which has a big place near Santa Fe, NM. The Mega Mart is a parody of Target type of store. All the products seem to be parodies, like what you might see in Mad Magazine. I didn't actually pay to go in, so couldn't read the boxes. The cost to go in is $49, which I found ridiculous. The whole thing looked to be about 2,000 square feet. The people inside didn't look like they very amused. I think after five minutes most people would say "I get it" and be ready to leave.

The other main attraction was obviously the Interactive Van Gogh. That I couldn't even peek at, so won't comment. I do have tickets to go to that in July.

As long as I was there, I wanted to do at least one "experience" so did a so-called museum on the second floor, near the front doors. It was $15 for adults and $5 for kids. After being read the rules, we went into what was a big mirrored rooms, filled with water vapor, flashing lights, and more EDM. I did a few circles of the room and was ready to move on. At the time, I thought it was just an entry to the main attraction -- but that was it! To be honest, I felt gipped.

There were some themed bars scattered about, but I was with my 14-year-old daughter. I invited my two older kids to go, but they both declined, saying they had been there already with their friends. I don't blame them for not wanting to return, at least with their parents.

Maybe the place is more fun during the adult-only hours after 10PM.

I don't like to be a Debbie Downer, but I was unimpressed. I'm not saying anyone between the ages of 21 and 30 won't like it, but it's not for me.

Makes the Vegas downtown canopy sound like a great deal (well it's free), and at least as entertaining.

You can sell any level of entertainment, but if it seems overpriced people are going to slam it in reviews.

I think there are a bunch of secret rooms in Omega Mart. It’s definitely not just 2000 square feet.

Edit - I can give a report when I go in a month.

I think Mega Mart at Area 15 is actually named Omega Mart and it is similar to the one in Santa Fe.

There are not a lot of reviews yet on TripAdvisor for the Area 15 Mega Mart, but the concensus is very good. I know my wife and adult daughter want to go to the "Mart", but I'm not sure I will do it at the $ 49 ticket price.

When we were there in March, it was sold-out for the day. So I guess you should purchase tickets ahead of time for a timed entry slot. In one of the Trip Advisor reviews someone also said try to go early before it gets too busy.

Here is another picture of some of the free Art installations outside, pretty cool for taking pictures, especially the post-apocolypse Las Vegas sign.

Thank you for the review. I had been considering checking it out but now I am pretty sure that I won't.

Hey, fair enough. I don't think it is intended to be everyone's "cup of tea".

Didn't the WIZ say he is going to go back and do the MEGA MART thing ? I think they also have or are going to have the IMMERSIVE VAN GOGH experience display.

I have tickets for the Van Gogh thing in July. I'll probably do the Mega Mart the same day, if I don't go sooner.

We bought tickets to what we thought was the Van Gogh thing. We actually bought tickets to the lounge interactive art thing. I was ok with that, however, I really wanted to see the Van Gogh thing.

    WTF
    2000 sq feet?????????????
Leave in 5 minutes. So absurd.
You are reviewing a book by examining the cover and not reading. Did not even see how thick the book is. Just looked at the cover. Its 2 hours thick, not 5 min.
Not good. Right up there with your censorship decisions.
    Yea looks are deceiving
Its 52000 sq feet and 3 stories
    Meow Wolf is massive
Looks small on the outside looking at the store
Huge inside. So many rooms to check out. Some mind-blowing
Thrilled I found the secret climbing portal. Hint. Don't be afraid to crawl through any small hole found and there are quite a few. Took a tubed slide back down.
I wandered around Meow Wolf for 2 hours
    Its incredible
Never know which way to turn
So wonderful to just wander and explore
Always something unique around the next corner
