No thread on Circa Las Vegas yet? Or did it already die? Fear not, here's one:

So here is what we know:

Opening in late 2020
biggest sportsbook screen on the planet (title held by Westgate atm)
multi level sportsbook
parking structures to be built west side of Main St. that are to serve all of Fremont St.
770 rooms aiming to take the quasi-Strip-quality title from Golden Nugget
Vegas Vicky on display inside the casino

Sooo, you guys excited? I am, I love me a brand new hotel to stay in...

Poll question: Your comment on Circa?!

I did start a thread as soon as it was announced
I'm pretty excited about this
I was a bit disappointed not a lot of responses to my thread
Maybe this thread will generate more conservation

Hmm. who gets done 1st, Circa or Resorts across the street from the Wynn?
Resorts has the head start but they seem on the slow side regarding construction
Its just a forum. Nothing here to get obsessed about.

Resortsworld has a history of press releases about getting shit done.

Derek Stevens has a history of getting shit done.

My money is on Circa.

I'm just thinking of the godawful VP paytables in this new place, and how the rest of downtown will follow.

I think you have the right of it RS. To reverse the first poll choice: I think the Strip is coming to get Downtown. Hopefully I'm wrong and other DT casinos will offer better deals to compete, but I doubt it.

Still, from the video terapined posted in the earlier thread, the sports book at the Circa looks amazing. You have to admit it.
Have you tried 22 tonight? I said 22.

The D is having Superbowl party and moving it outside because they have a 72 FOOT tv they're using for the game and 22' speakers to go with it.

I wonder if that's the rig that will go into Circa sports bar.

One can only hope for no resort fees and free parking.

Those two things would probably make me avoid staying on the strip now.

Neither will happen at Circa.

I'm sure I'll check it out at some point, but I can't think it is a game changer (in a good way, anyways).

I voted that the name sucks. No doubt there will be confusion among tourists between Circa and Circus Circus. Or people thinking Cirque du Soleil has a show there.

Circa looks like it is essentially going to be downtown grand in a better location with actual gamblers potentially, worse gaming and the loudest most terrible music they can think of putting on. Pass.

Interesting to see when the two mega properties open up, which casinos will feel the effects? There are only so many visitors and gamblers, taxis, etc. Empty or dead casinos during off peak times might get tough. The question is, which major casino will go out of business?

I can't stand The D for this exact reason. Even if I'm by myself and have no one to talk to (usually true when I'm gambling), I can't even hear the freaking craps dealers (and they can't hear me) to get bets set up right. I don't get it at all, same problem with most "clubs." Even my company's holiday party, in a HUUUGE room with about 7000 people, had insanely loud music pumping. I was sitting right next to my coworkers and couldn't carry on a conversation.

I'm not even *that* old (34). Get off my lawn!

Demolition started this week for a NEW tower at The Downtown Grand.

New Downtown Grand Tower

That's another 495 rooms in 2020.
I don't know everything but I know a lot.

Oh my.

A few of the larger ones around:
Venetian-Palazzo 7,117
MGM Grand 6,852
City Center 6,790
Wynn-Encore 4,750
Mandalay Bay 4,426

Some miscellaneous kinda sorta medium sized properties:
SLS 2,535
Rio 2,522
Golden Nugget 2,419
South Point 2,163
The Orleans 1,885
Hard Rock 1,506
Tropicana 1,459

Some rather small-ish hotel properties that have to rely mostly on the local degenerate trade in order to keep the lights on in the casino:
Palace Station 1,053
Red Rock 816
Gold Coast 711
Palms 702
Sam's Town (not counting the trailer park) 650
(Ellis Island 'Casino') Super 8 Motel on Koval 300

I can only play there for maybe an hour before the volume pushes me out the door. I like them a lot - in some ways they're the best DT casino. But I bet they lose 2 customers for every one that stays, just because the music volume is intolerable.

If I go to the D I take the outside escalator to the second floor only, it isn't so loud there, then take the same escalator to leave. Never go down to the concert arena first level

I thought there was only one escalator - going up.

To go down, you have to go inside.

This is correct.

Is that escalator running at this time? Seems like it would create an additional entrance that they would need to have someone monitoring and taking temperatures at.
