Not like rolling the dice at all. Thousand games patented every year. A hundred make it to a casino floor. And only 1 or 2 each year establish a foothold. No matter how good the game, how big the distributor, it is still one hell of a long shot.

Great game like Switch, SHFL the 800 lb gorilla among distributors, 10 placements in Colorado, all gone within 6 months. But you have beaten the odds so far. Hope you make it ALL THE WAY !

My analogy with rolling the dice was merely pointing to the success or lack thereof on the "fun night". That night is quite obviously what will determine our immediate success in that location, no more, no less hence, rolling the dice :)

GOOD LUCK. Going to bed now, and dreaming of being Larry S's bookie. Wouldn't that make me a rich man.

I'm pleased to report that One for the Money will be opening at Diamond Jo's Dubuque next week (I don't have an exact date). This is the Quad Cities area which includes Rock Island and Moline IL, and Dubuque and Davenport IA; closest large cities are Chicago, Memphis, Minneapolis, St. Louis, though the metro area is not small at around 425K. Diamond Jo's is a Boyd property; I haven't been there, but it looks quite nice on the website (below) and is on the banks of the Mississippi River. If you're in the area, please go have a look. And keep your fingers crossed for us, please.

Diamond Jo's

Congrats Babs! I live about an hour from Dubuque and will give it a shot next time I am there. If you make a visit, PM me, would love to meet the game creator.

Just to correct the geography, the Quad City area includes Rock Island IL, Moline IL, Davenport IA, and most consider Bettendorf IA as the fourth city (although some consider East Moline IL as the fourth). In the Quad Cities there are three casinos, the Isle of Capri, Rhythm City, and Jumers.

Dubuque is also on the Mississippi but about 90 miles north on the tri-state corner of Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois and not part of the Quad Cities. The population is right around 58K, there is a touristy area in Galena IL about 20 miles away. There is a competing casino, the Mystique in Dubuque, which is a dog track converted to casino.

You are correct, the Diamond Jo is very nice aesthetically, but it's mailers are weak to average at best and there isn't a poker room.

Just an observation on the layout tough...I thought the betting boxes were too far away from the dealer. The dealer was fairly short, but not overly so, and kept having to lean right over the float to reach the chips on the raise box.

With the right dealer that could definitely fill up all the spots at the table!

Congratulations! I'm new to the forum and casino game design/inventing and hearing success stories like this (despite what the pessimists say) is inspirational.

Midwest,

Thanks! I had a major brain-yaknow about Dubuque v Davenport. Never lived in Eastern Iowa (Sioux City, Okoboji, Des Moines, Iowa City, and nearby Omaha all at different times). We were looking at a possible trip up last night and my sis could NOT convince me the mapquest directions were correct (drive 61.2 miles north on whatever). I finally looked at it. I will definitely PM you if we make the trip, which looks very likely at the moment.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.
