How many of you make the lion's share of your income from VP

I ask because I'm finding it very difficult to find any worthwhile +EV that pays more than a minimum wage job. I work full time so I don't have as much time as I'd like to dedicate to exploring all different types of casinos and learning the nuances based on the mailer and other promotions. If I could, I definitely would though.


Basically, my best VP play most of the time is playing FPDW. I can clock 1100-1200 HPH on it (for the first hour or two). But it gets boring playing the same game all of the time. Is it worth it to play a very marginal/break even machine during a promotion and just hope for a good mailer?



How do you guys find out about the really good +EV opportunities out there?

VP is dead. The casinos have plugged all the leaks. You must move in other directions.

Best way to find the really good stuff is to trade information with your fellow APs. If you have nothing to trade, at least network with them. Years ago, I got friendly with a guy on the LVA board. We ended up in Vegas at the same time. He didn't drive and I offered to take him to the horns and Rampart. We got along and he offered to hire me to take him to Laughlin. I took him just for gas money and he showed me an incredible TR hack that got me some crazy comps for the next two years.

Probably good advice, even if the leaks are not all fully plugged, they seem to be plugged enough that looking elsewhere is a good plan. Might be different if you were retired and could live in a casino for fourteen hours a day, but even then.... I'd start scanning the horizon.

HOW MANY OF YOU MAKE THE LION'S SHARE OF YOUR INCOME FROM VP
I have not yet hit a $5 VP Royal.
My Lion's share of my income does not come from playing VP.

I willing to say a few (max) might from actual playing VP (without the lucky $25 to $100 VP Royal played 3 times only), but most from VP come from selling books, lessons, strategy cards, software, smartphone programs and so on. Low variance and low bankroll required.

would enjoy seeing just one source code from an actual VP machine in Nevada.

are you familiar with intel i960 architecture and IDA?

the older IGT stuff has been emulated in MAME for years now, but nothing on the 3902 or 044 platforms yet

there are ongoing projects to look at IGT and williams game platforms from ROM dumps and in circuit emus
