I just read another thread about craps and it was the usual discussion: people talking about math. Math advocates saying they bet with the math. Critics saying the math doesnt work for them. Critics asking how much someone makes from their system. And then the grand climax -- the claim they make millions.

Then there are the blackjack players and the Baccarat players and the slot players all telling about their plays and big wins and sometimes losses. But they always win in the end, don't they?

Let's not forget the card hustlers who always escape their legal problems. Their hustles live on.

You know what's missing? Someone reporting they went to a casino with their wife or significant other and had a great time seeing a show, at a restaurant, maybe a tip about a special hotel deal.

Anyway... Lucky Penny Cafe at Red Rock has a new version of their grilled salmon. $21 and it comes with a very refreshing salsa mixed with "cilantro rice" which is also refreshing. It's a nice piece of fish and I frequently get a to-go box for about half the order. It makes a second delicious meal after being in the fridge a few hours.

It's still 50-50 with their prime rib special. I ask the waitoerson if its fatty before ordering. Half the time it is too fatty.

Their cage is understaffed.

Alan, this is a site primarily devoted to gambling: the focus is not reviews of the latest Cirque Du Soleil show, the latest celebrity-themed restaurant, nor the current crop of out-call "escorts."

People go to shows, eat in restaurants and pay for sex in sin city all the time but they usually choose not to discuss it too much on gambling forums, esp. one once-focused on the math of gambling.

There's a time and a place for everything, and the Wiz does allow such discussions here, if people so choose: they're just not the point of the spear.

I second Mr. V statement above.

I believe you were a reporter at one time? Reporting is about exposing stories of interest.

Imagine you doing an expose on the Mafia in Vegas and your editor asks what is missing and then says you didn't write about the other Italians, the ones delivering pizzas and leading law abiding lives. He sends you back out for your expose on the pizza delivery guy

What's missing? Interest!

It’s Wizard of Vegas, so shouldn’t it be everything, including gambling and all else that Las Vegas offers?

Those who are actually here, and who actually support the forum and the social aspect of it all, are gamblers. So wishing it were different isn’t very useful. The forum does what it does, and is made up of those who log in most frequently.

I’ve found APs and gamblers to be a solitary lot. That’s neither good, nor bad. It just is. Suits me, solitary is my general nature, too. But gamblers and APs also tend to be insular, in my experience. Again, neither good nor bad. But it keeps the forum from growing beyond a few dozen (at most) regular posters. And, I understand this, too; we might be in the casino together, but I’m playing while an AP is working.

Interestingly, I hear and see Wizard of Odds mentioned more and more frequently: in casinos, on FB, in other forums, and among friends and acquaintances. But I never hear mention of Wizard of Vegas. And, should I? The hotel reviews are all dated. There is only a single show review newer than 2012. There isn’t a single restaurant review. There isn’t anything about other Vegas attractions, nothing at all. We’re planning a trip for October, and this site is useless for that.

So, nobody posts anything about shows and meals in Vegas because it’s a small forum of regular users that has no appeal to anyone who doesn’t share similar interests to the core group, ie gambling and AP. And the rest of the site has nothing that would make anyone want to join. And that answers Alan’s question.

I’m interested in hearing about all the cases V has won. From all accounts he is a major player in the judicial system. I think it would be interesting to hear about all his Value creation for clients. Without lawyers where would society be ? I think that’s what is missing here

We do, from time to time, get trip reports featuring many such highlights.

Not everyone is going to find the same stories interesting, nor even the same parts of a particular story interesting.

Vive la difference.

Alan if you mean my post stating “millions” in the other thread, I was defending your system of not playing at all. I’ve made millions by not losing them at craps.

There's nothing new here. Everything here is so predictable I think I could ghost-write a response from any forum member.

I've lost interest. And I've lost interest in other forums too.

Carry on.

I'll keep looking in but how many times can I read the same stuff over and over?

Ghost writer here.

Lots of fun stuff to do in Vegas besides gambling. High end restaurants, shops, pool/spa, shows. But what fun is any of that if you lose your a$$ almost every time you go? And that’s what exactly you’ll do playing 5% edge bets all weekend. I prefer playing games that give me nearly a 50% chance of leaving Vegas a winner
It’s all about making that GTA

This thread is about what we think is missing. I gave my opinion on what I like to see. More personal stories and interesting conversation from important people. I fail to see how you can frame this as hijacking. Are you attempting to persuade a mod to ban me ? This thread is about suggesting what’s missing right ?

If the investors in this website wanted a bigger audience with more advertising potential then they should cater to a different audience.

From The Las Vegas Visitors Authority (or whatever their official name is):

"The average visitor who decided to gamble in Las Vegas last year did so for a total of just over two hours per trip. The average time spent gambling in 2018 was 2.2 hours. The vast majority of visitors, 67%, spent two hours or less gambling during their four day Vegas vacation.

"Even though only 3% of visitors to Las Vegas gambled for more than eight hours last year, the average overall time spent gambling in Las Vegas increased from the previous two years. Visitors only gambled for an average of 1.6 hours in 2017 and 1.9 hours in 2016."

And the average budget per trip? A whopping $527.

There's nothing new here.

Then add some newness.

Why not discuss the implementation of cashless technologies for gaming in LV casinos such as Resorts World?

see: https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/destinations/2021/06/26/resorts-world-las-vegas-opening-cashless-technology-rfid-casino-floor/5357347001/

You were once a reporter; in your quest for finding something worth talking about you could explore the tunnels under the strip and then report on the life story of the most beaten down, broken soul you find there so we can learn from his / her mistakes.

Interesting as they would no doubt be, unless those cases are related to Vegas, gambling, or math, they would appear off-topic for the forum.

They bought the Wizard of Odds, it just happened to include an annoying bratty little brother The Wizard of Vegas. Most of the comments on this site regarding online gambling are counterproductive to their business model. I don't doubt it generates income, but I have a feeling it wards off more income than it's generating.

I for one am surprised and a tad disappointed that this forum isn't devoted SOLELY to the math of gambling; gee, they could call it "The Wizard of Odds."

Maybe it's time for the owners to open up such a new forum to go hand in glove with their big prize, WoO?

They could keep this board open as a sort of goofy younger brother...

The LCB forum is quite active, although math seems to be left as an exercise for the enthusiastic reader.

Las Apuestas not so much.
