So here it is, 8 weeks now of going nowhere, and I've been fantasizing about where and what I would like to do when (if?) thing get back to normal. An excursion to some gambling mecca is certainly high on my list but the question was where. Vegas? AC? Mohegan? Then I got to thinking, if I'm going to fantasize, why limit myself to the possible. So my question to one and all is:

If you could gamble anywhere, whether real or imaginary, where and when would you pick? For me it would be shooting craps in Las Vegas at the height of the Rat Pack era. Other options that came to mind:
  • play Faro in Tombstone with Doc Holliday as the dealer.
  • poker on a Mississippi river boat circa 1830
  • Baccarat with James Bond and Ernst Stavro Blofeld
  • roulette in the back room at Rick's Café Américain
My goal of being well informed conflicts with my goal of remaining sane.

I would want to be “in the room where it happened” and see what was the hole card for Wild Bill Hickok‘s aces and eights.

Ive had some of the greatest experiences in the world playing craps. I played in Monte Carlo at Le Casino. It was extraordinaire!
Ive played just about every casino in the US. Wynn and Bellagio top my list... However, my dream is to play in a casino that doesn't currently exist. Ive always wanted to play in an amazing casino in Hawaii overlooking the ocean at sunset hour. Hopefully, one day, that can happen once the politics allow it. Basically, when the states needs money, they legalize everything.

My trip to the island of St. Maarten was cancelled today by American Airlines. It was scheduled for May 15th. Nothing like going to a Caribbean island for beaches, cocktails, fine food and gambling.

I was there about 6 months ago. It felt a like a ghost town in Phillipsburg and especially in Marigot...so deserted at night that it was spooky. Still recovering from the hurricane

I was there end of February. Seemed like any other Caribbean island. Tourist area pretty much reconstructed.

Iwas there last year and the area that we hang out didn't really seem any different after IRMA except that a lot of trees and foilage were missing and half of the beach bars were gone.
