MGM fire was before my time.

But I was staying at Bellagio when Caesar's was on fire, this is the pic I took from my penthouse, as I recall, 2001.

Is that little bit of road Flamingo? If the pic is from Bellagio, then that road would be Dean Martin, right?

Yes, that's Flamingo. Harrah's is in the foreground, so the pic must have been taken from The Venetian. I'm not questioning the authenticity of the photo, just clearing up where it was taken.

The photo is obviously real but who actually took it is an entirely different question.

I totally understand, I mean come on, when you're a High Roller in Las Vegas getting comped all the penthouse suites at every Casino it's hard to keep them all straight. Just like sometimes it's hard to keep all your stories straight.

This is deja vu B79 all over again. The more he said the more obvious everything became.

I took the picture: I remember Caesar's always looking dark and foreboding from Bellagio so I was pretty sure it was taken from Bellagio penthouse.

I used to stay at Venetian all the time too, mostly on the 35th floor, in the Renaissance Suites, so yeah if my memory is off it could've been taken from Venetian.

I don't play at any MGM properties these days so I can't go back into a Bellagio penthouse to refresh my memory, but next time I am in Venetian I'll look out the window to see whether that matches this angle better.

Today is the last day of play here, then tomorrow gotta go back to the other casino to stay there a few days and collect the second fifteen hunny gift card, before leaving to go home for Thanksgiving.

Yesterday's session, got a little tumultuous. I pulled a five, lost, a ten, lost, then a twenty before I rallied and came back to win and pay all three back. This was the first session of its kind this trip, where I had real trouble. I was playing a chop, a perfect chop seven times bank/player/bank/player etc. but I kept putting more and more on that a second hand would come. Later, the dealer said, "I was going to say something, you always seem so good with following the shoe, but you were really in an intense mood."

Before I starting losing I was actually ahead 2500, and remember thinking I should just leave, but I didn't.

I recovered, and that was good of course, but what I feel bad about is that there was this local kid playing with me and he had five K cash yesterday he was at my session yesterday too where we won together yesterday, and today he brought 5K again but lost it all and left during the period when I was zagging instead of zigging. What I feel bad about is that I was starting to bet pretty big and he must've felt like he shouldn't bet against me, and we both lost a lot. But I recovered with additional funds, whereas he fled busted. By recovered, I just mean that I ended slightly ahead I did not get back to plus 2500 for this session. I should have a piece of paper in front of me at all times that says, OBEY THE CHOP, those are the times when I've had problems trying to force a second hand bank or player when an easy run is actually in progress, but a horizontal versus vertical run.

What's crazy is that on the last shoe, I just needed a few more K to get even and a thirteen (might have been twelve) player run came up. I started with a very small bet, pressed until I got all my money back and was even, then cut back to two hundred a hand. But don't think that no one saw it, this guy came up and started playing with me HE stayed with it he wasn't a huge player but he pressed to like three grand a hand by the end.

A couple of his friends came up and were talking talking talking during the run about whether it was going to keep up, and should they bet too, and afterwards, the guy turned to them and said, "Don't you know you're not supposed to say anything when the pitcher has a no hitter in progress?" 😄

But the real point being, why is it so "easy" to rise fifteen grand when you have to, versus rise fifteen grand when you don't have to? If I'd stayed with that run and bet crazily like the way I did when I was losing, I would have clocked the casino for fifty grand easily. Instead, I pressed until I was even, and then cut wayy back.

By the way, while we are on the subject of markers, I was talking to the pit boss the other day about how the verbiage has gotten longer and longer over the years. Every time someone sues the casino or fights a D.A. bad check unit case successfully, the casinos add something new to the bottom of the check that closes that loophole to future players. Nowadays the markers are not just undated, which they have been undated for a long time, but may be deposited into any account you have today or MAY HAVE in the future! You pretty much waive any reservations or defenses when you sign that sucker at the bottom.

I keep my markers, I have bags of them with the signature torn out, that is my signature thing, to tear the sig out and keep it after paying it back.

That pretty much settles it then, I took it from 35th floor Venetian. 2001.

That summer I was in one casino or another, GNLV, Hard Rock, Bellagio, T.I., Venetian, Aladdin, Mandalay Bay, constantly. I was on the very first flight after September 11th, as I recall it was a Thursday when the planes started flying again, to Vegas. The plane was nearly empty, as was Vegas.

The Caesars Palace property is enormous. In the more recent photo, I assume the Mirage sign is at the edge of the boundary. Everything beyond (to the left) belongs to CP afaik.

Has anyone ever ranked the Strip resorts by total acreage? Usually they're listed by either hotel rooms or casino square footage, but some of them have a lot of land.

Seems like the Desert Inn property (now Wynn/Encore) has a lot of land, with its golf course which people are playing there again noticed it from the Encore suite, because we were on that side this time.

The Tropicana used to be the Tropicana Hotel & COUNTRY CLUB no? many many years ago, so I suppose it used to have a lot of land too.

When we were waiting for the car in the Encore Tower Suites area we remarked on how there are trees and greenery, like at a regular resort hotel. How many other hotels on the Strip or downtown have a stick of greenery on the grounds? If they do, it's at least not as impressionable as all the greenery at Encore. I mean yes, you look down from the balcony down the strip and you see trees on many of the properties, but it's not really that dense like at some parts of Encore.

Resurrected from the dead, apparently. Article link:

https://vegaschanges.com/2019/08/14/wynn-golf-club-reopening-to-the-public-in-october/

Wynn Golf Club is about 130 acres, which on the map looks nearly as big as Caesars Palace, Mirage and TI combined. The golf course closed two years ago to be replaced by the Paradise Park lagoon project, and apparently they initiated some preliminary construction. But then Wynn bought the 38-acre Alon/New Frontier property and shifted its construction intentions to the other side of Las Vegas Blvd. They decided to press the golf course back into service, but it required some restoration.

writing non fiction

attention Penguin Random House:

MDawg is writing travel narratives for the Wizard of Vegas gambling forum

highlights:

Wynn/Encore has a lot of land. Tropicana used to have a lot of land
how you feel when you wear a fake watch - how you feel when you wear an expensive watch
how easy it is to win big bucks with no mathematical advantage
amateurish pics of casinos, U.S. currency, casino chips, jewelry will prove it's all true

to summarize: basically it is the story of how fabulous he himself - the MDawg - is

I imagine a lagoon is still possible in some location, and then maybe the seven of us will finally be able to escape the island.

Off-topic, but did you know the country club/golf course included houses? Photo from the 50s or 60s:

Golf course is upper right, below the Landmark tower. Residences were built all along East Desert Inn Rd, Paradise Rd and Sands Ave; also in the southeast section. (I hope I used the semicolon properly.)

Around 2000, Steve Wynn came along and bought out all the owners, explaining that the land was too valuable to continue as a golf course (source: Wikipedia). And now here we are today, and it's still a golf course.

If so, can you kindly post up your dates you'll be in Vegas playing? I highly doubt the wizard reads this thread or pays much attention to this kind of stuff, I highly doubt he even knows who you are, however,I would be happy to fill him in on the situation and kick-start a meeting off.

It would be great if you wouldn't mind if someone else tagged along( I would be honored, but since I'm on your s*** list, probably not me). The wizard is very talented at many things, however, I think there's better qualified people for figuring out if someone is bul****ing or not.

Hugoslavia, thanks for those pics, nice.

Yes, Tiger, here until Thanksgiving.

It was short session 2 1/2 shoes I was never down but I was never up a ton either. Left exactly 2100 ahead. When I put it in the safe the hundred dollar chip was missing. I was about to run back out to the elevator to retrace my steps when I lifted the two yellows and there it was underneath. The black chip they gave me was one of those little BJ ones so it was momentarily hidden, lol.

Axel, Wiz and I communicate off site nothing to do with gambling. I will probably meet him in person at some point. Would I waste his time dragging him to the tables to watch me play just to prove that I play? I think that would be a little provincial.

I'm probably not against meeting someone if I got to know him somehow and knew he was trustworthy. What about Tiger, he seems like a normal person and his posts to me indicate that he is a person of integrity. Or Soopoo he is an anesthesiologist isn't he? I don't think I'd be worried that he knew that I was a person of substance.

You might trust Tiger, but that doesn't mean we do. JUST KIDDING TIGER 😋

I thought we already had this discussion briefly on a different thread and it was you that suggested this in the first place or something like that? Honestly, I don't think Mike would mind. SooPoo would be a fine candidate as well. MaxPen would be a good candidate and TomG. I'm sure I could name a bunch of people that might have an interest, but I want to make sure it's even possible on your end and what we should expect. Can they expect you to be betting at least 1k per hand for the equivalent of about an hour's worth of hands(obviously without someone hedging the other side)?

Obviously, no one is ever under any obligation to meet anyone or prove anything.

Perhaps we can even find a Rolex expert, aside from yourself that is.

If you can't tell that the watches I posted are real, then, as JP Morgan might have said, you can't afford to ask the question.

This trip ends by Thanksgiving, then will return a few days before New Year's, but I don't see us staying clear through MLK weekend on that trip, which is, January 20th? given all the time spent in Vegas recently. The next trip after that is currently scheduled for March, for a golf tournament at one of the casinos.

What will someone see when he views me playing. $1000. flat bet hour after hour? I don't think so! I never flat bet whether it be $100. or $5000. Also, I've said this many times - I prefer to play the Bacc. table alone with no one else at the table. With BJ, I don't care if someone else is there. You should've been a lawyer coming up with the "caveat" of "(obviously without someone hedging the other side)" - that's the way we think 👍with considering every possible outcome and loophole before drafting the contract for ourselves or for a client.

Hey fellow players I will post some updates here occasionally but most of my content will be posted at the other forum where the Admin gave me my own corner. I got somewhat addicted to posting over there during the past two weeks. Good luck to all.

They weren't single bets at all they were the chips remaining after the end of the session and markers were paid off, representing the win.

It's absolutely absurd for you to think that someone can tell if a watch is fake or not from a crappy photo. That's just smoke and mirrors. Speaking of smoke... we certainly love that smoking Casino picture you took from "The Bellagio". That's an easy mistake of course.

Why don't you post one of the pics of any of my watches on a watch forum and check out the feedback. Then post a pic of one of your fakes and observe how not even one person at the watch forum will be fooled by your fakes. The problem is that you appear to be claiming to be an "expert" in things you know nothing about, which includes fine timepieces. This is what EvenBob said about you, remember?

I am with Tiger, only a bad person would support the fake watch market, or any fake market by purchasing any sort of designer counterfeit. Not to mention that it is illegal to possess any of these counterfeits. I suppose it's one thing to have in passing stumbled upon one and bought it out of curiosity, but to wear one or actively pursue counterfeit designer goods, echh.

Anyway, positive energy only, going down for another sesh at the new casino! Results will be posted elsewhere most likely, not here!

I may have missed a detail, but it actually is an easy mistake, isn't it? The event happened two decades ago.

He claimed Bellagio, and it was actually Venetian. Both luxury properties. It's not like he was revealed to have been staying at Westward Ho.

You think something like that would be a little more rememberable had you been the one that actually took the picture.

But I agree, that in and of itself is not that substantial.

You have to take the totality of everything and put it together and come to your own conclusion.
I have a pretty high percentage on this type of stuff.... so I'll trust my instincts. If I'm wrong, I'll be more than happy to admit it.

If you're following along everything that's been said it seems to me someone's already backtracking a little.

FYI it took B79 quite a while to show his hand as well.

But then he with the stories of burning buildings and people dying in his arms or whatever. He should have walked away long before that.

I think that the Rolexs are real.

I have a friend that graduated jewelry school and sold Rolexes and jewelry. He's seen fake rolexs when he was in China. I'll ask him tomorrow. When he awakes.

I may know someone who can tell fake hotel rooms. Lol.

Not sure if this inquiry into real or fake is all that revealing, becasue there's very little that you have to buy. You can rent just about anything for a fraction of the sale price if you just want to have it a short time.
There's no secret. Just know what you're talking about before you open your mouth.

Session went well, posted details in other forum.

No I'm not saying Axel is a bad person, I put him in the category of someone who bought a fake watch out of curiosity once.

But I'd never wear a fake anywhere let alone at a LV Baccarat table, would look like a fool. Wearing a fake Rolex in front of your peer group or anyone in the know, would be a really bad move, besides, as mentioned, that counterfeit designer goods are illegal.

It was 18 years ago, I did take the pic, and I actually did recall it as Bellagio. But it turns out it was Venetian. What can I say, other than I made a mistake on recalling all the details of that one. But it was something to watch the smoke and wonder what was up. As I recall, the fire never got much worse than the smoke that I took a pic of.
