I decided to call this trip report "Warming Up" because the weather here in the northeast is warming up and this is a warm up trip for WoVcon

rolled into AC earlier and stopped by Big Bally's to play a $30 direct bet...
seeing a roulette table (limited to red, even or 1-18 with a TR direct bet), I sauntered over and noticed the last 8 spins yielded all reds (I KNOW THIS DOES NOT MATTER - I AM MERELY RELATING IT AS PART OF THE STORY) - I placed my $30 on red - the pill hit one canoe and seemed to be vacuum sucked into a black slot - it was like a golfer being able to draw and have the ball stop dead on the green - amazing

left and stopped at Showboat for $20 in slot play - played 4 spins at a $5 machine - nary a hit

checked in at my destination and took a short nap...

as I have been busy lately with work my mind has not been on gaming so I am in a very relaxed state of mind

Session #1:
played about 1/2 a shoe

nothing much to speak of but before I knew it I was up 900 and decided to take a break and go back to the room to relax some more

so, trip is +900

:-)

Glad to have you back ace. I play those TR direct bet coupons the same way, and no matter what I bet (red or even or 1-18)...it loses 90% of the time...sigh...good luck this weekend.

why does the TR direct bet restrict you to red? you cant bet black with it? I guess to prevent people from betting both sides? But that makes no sense. It doesn't change the EV of the coupon if you bet both sides with coupons. Theyre all worth exactly the same.

It is only even money bets - I suppose they want you to throw your own cash on black if you want to hedge. I think they could have restricted it to black as well but I think this way all the dealers know that direct bets are limited so when they look they don't have to really scrutinize the bet.

Last night's session:

Played about 2 shoes with dealer head's up...
It was back and forth, then got a natural BJ which she pushed me on (K up)
then doubled a 7,4 v. 6 and I got a 10 for 21...she pushed me
three hands later she pushed me on another 21 double down
four hands later she pushed me on a 20 double down lol
end of shoe -500

moved to a new table...

the trend reversed...I was getting about 75% of my doubles
what was weird yesterday was that I had no splits at all

I hit 12 (Q.2) against a 4 and the dealer almost didn't realize I was hitting...worked out I pulled a 6, dealer busted with 4, K, 10
end of three shoes I was +600 (got the 500 back I lost earlier plus 600)

Trip is +1500

Lunchtime session:

started out nasty!
pushed on a bj the first hand
lost a double down 20 to a dealer 21 two hands later
dealer then pushed me a few hands in a row
then split 8,8 v. dealer 5 -- first 8 dealt 5 for 13 stay -- second 8 dealt 10 for 18 stay -- dealer has 5,4,10 damn!
end of shoe I had lost 1k

a few shoes later I Was still hanging in there up 500 (out of the 1500 I was up)
a few bad hands in a row and I Was down to 200
put the 200 up and said I would go to lunch if I lost
dealt 8,3 v. dealer 9 -- I had no cash and no other chips on me as it was all up in the safe so I could not double
of course, dealt a K for a 21

from here though, things got good and despite being down to my last 200 (out of the 1500 I was up - not out of my trip bankroll), I managed to get all the way back to 1500

the best hand I had was 200 up and ended up with a 7 card 21 (see below) - not sure why the dealer separated the two chips but he did

Trip is still +1500

today is OPPOSITE DAY

Every dealer I normally play with that gives me money has taken it...such as..

Afternoon session:
played with a dealer who I like to play with and he normally keeps me even or better
for the first 6 hands of the shoe we were trading 21's
then it got really bad - he did not bust the rest of the shoe and proceeded to lose 4 double downs
end of that shoe was -800 for the shoe leaving me +700 for the trip

next session played with another dealer who is friendly with me and usually pays me
she proceeded to kick the ever living crap out of me, taking the 700 I was still up
trip now even at this point

ventured around and settled on another table with yet another of my normal friendly (pays me) dealers...
this was an old fashioned bully in the schoolyard beatdown of me - lost 5 doubles in the shoe - now down 1,400

so, I said, what do I have to lose and sidled up to play with a dealer that normally rakes me over the coals...
well, within 1/2 shoe I got back 700

she left and a friendly dealer came in, cuing me to venture off to play with another dealer that normally kills me

things were up and down, down and up, then proceeded to have this hand:

4,4 v. dealer 6
split 4's

Hand 1: 4 then dealt another 4 (split it out)
Hand 1 still: dealt another 4 (split it out)
so now I have four hands out
Hand 1: 4 dealt 7, double for a 19
Hand 2: 4 dealt 10 for 14
Hand 3: 4 dealt 6, double for 13
Hand 4: 4 dealt 10 for 14

dealer has 6, turns over a 9 for 15, takes an Ace for 16, then wham bam thank you ma'am a K to bust!!!

so....trip is now -100

having dinner and seeing a show
(more to come later)

FInal session of last night:

Sat down with a dealer i had never played with before (continuing OPPOSITE DAY)...

Within 1/2 shoe I won 900 (or so I thought)

On the last hand of the shoe, I 'thought' I had been up $650 and put up $150 and said to myself - ok if I lose I will be up 500 for the trip and if I win I will be up 800 for the trip, either way I will go to bed...
so I won the hand and colored in...
however the total they came up with was that I was only up 600 (which did not comport with what I had thought I was up- and I am usually good with knowing how many chips I have)...
my host had been there saying hello to me so she called surveillance to check the tape (there was no yelling or anything - she could see I clearly thought I had 800 versus 600) - and they confirmed I had been paid correctly - no big deal - I Was very happy to be up after a long day gambling
plus, having just seen ZZ Top, I was in a good mood

You play one shoe sessions and bet with black chips. How is it even possible to have a discrepancy about how many chips you have? At the end of the session, you're up 6 chips, and you have what...16 chips in front of you?

There was discrepancy because I bought in for 1900 and hit a few blackjacks which gave me green chips...indeed there was a discrepancy but I'm over it

Played this morning for a couple of hours:

basically was a bloodbath...consistently lost double downs and splits
dealers would make almost every hand necessary to win
eventually, after lunch, made a big come back back to even

why not try your hand at mini bacc? would be a nice change of pace for you and probably a lower house edge than what you are facing at the BJ game.
