Hey all,

As promised, I wanted to let everyone know that the Money$uit 31 STUD demo is now live on the website. This version of the game is a two card style game with two community cards dealt, one of which is used to complete a three card hand. This version also features the 5 to 2 "Money$uit" wager as previously discussed.

Money$uit 31 STUD has a Hit% of 38.7% with a 4.0% House Edge and an Element Of Risk of 2.2%.

I look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts!

Enjoy...

The Stud demo does not seem to be working. I placed my bets, hit deal and the game just sits there.

As you know, I like the origial version so I'll probably like this one. The only issue I have with it is that if I recall the demo version that you put on your website and allow people to play as a simulation to the Casino game, is deceiving. It's much easier to win on the demo game than it would be in the Casino because the AI players don't draw a card. They just play with the 3 they are dealt. This makes winning the pot MUCH easier to win and inflates the bankroll.

I'm sure it's a programming issue and there is no attempt to deceive, but I just don't like it. A simulation should be just that. It should simulate the game as it is really played in real life.

Z I am working with my developer to fix this issue. I Imagine that you are using Internet explorer 8 as your browser. They made changes to the javascript programs for internet explorer 9 that create major compatibility issues when running javascript program files (this is just being introduced to me now). The demo works when using chrome, mozilla etc. but we are working to fix the issue.

As far as the old demo is concerned, as you said the family pot issue was not done to be deceiving it is, like you said, complex coding issues that make it very hard to simulate the proper draw decisions for the phantom hands at the table. My main reason for the demo like you said was to get people playing so that they can learn and enjoy playing the game. because of your reaction i am going to put a note on the demo page informing people that this is the case, so that they don't feel like i am trying to be deceiving.

I actually enjoy playing Money$uit 31 but find the Stud version less enjoyable. Because of the negative EV, I wouldn't play either for anything more than table minimum. I like the full version more because of the discard decisions and the social aspect of the family pot and because of the discard decisions. I could see myself playing it with friends and family.

I solved that by always betting 100 credits. That way the +EV of community pot is minimized.
At first it was indeed somewhat strange.

The demo is working for me. I like the original better, though. Stud version is just too simple and straightforward. It was fun thinking about whether I should discard the 6 in A,A,6 (still not sure). The game is resolved just too quickly in Stud and fails to build up any suspense.
It could be more interesting with multi-stage betting, although it would involve considerable changes. Ideally two-stage community card revealing could be used for a more complicated version, possibly with reducing hole card requirement to 1 to make improvement possible.

The side wager has no appeal at all for me, there's just nothing visible or even imaginary to bet on.
I would suggest to consider this way of doing it, for both games: derive the Money$uit from the current hand. 31 makes it easy, it's can be just the suit of the best hand on the table (if trips win or there's a tie, deal an extra card or use first/last card priority to save time). Then the side wager would be on what suit will be selected in this hand, for the next hand.
In such a case the suits are not all be equal; the current Money$uit has a slightly better probability of winning, but almost certainly not enough to overcome the HA. This adds a tiny element of strategy, but that's at least enough to give it a moment's thought.

Yes, unfortunately because that's what my employer provides, I am using IE8. I'll have to give the Stud version a try from home. I think it's a good call putting a disclaimer on the demo saying it's played a little different than the Casino version.

Midwest and P90 I myself happen to enjoy the original game slightly more as well for the same reason, specifically the decision making process involved. Although others have expressed that they do not like the family pot and would prefer simpler games that require no decisions at all therefor i decided to launch this version(which had been in production for a while) to satisfy everyone's game interests.

FYI the demo issues have been fixed and the game now works on any version of Internet explorer. Z let me know what you think...

Its unfortunate that the family pot in the demo is what may be keeping them from wanting to move forward, but what can you do... The IE8 issue is now fixed so you can give the stud version a try now. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Yes, I can confirm it now works for IE8. I like the original game much better. I would not play the stud version. There is no interactivity. I play carnival games for the enjoyment of the gameplay. I like decisions, chances, risk/reward. The stud version does not allow for that.

One of the issues with original Moneysuit 31 was that the paytable favored too much folding (later fixed). Here it's the opposite - there are very few folding hands, about just the bottom quintile, it seems. In a game where you don't even have a card to discard, it's definitely too little folding - it's your only decision.

So I think a "tougher" paytable with higher payouts, but higher starting requirements, say the same push 17, win 18+, would make the game better. Maybe even just win 18+. Additional payouts would best go to bolster the bottom end of the paytable; even money is a low payout for a 2-bet game where you're bleeding chips quite quickly. I think 21 should start 3:1 already, at least.

What's the HA currently, BTW?

The current HA is 4% with an element of risk of 2.2%. Also the game has a 20% fold percentage.

Z I Agree with your opinion that the original is better, though i do really enjoy playing both. If you reread the other threads some people disagree with us, so i now offer this version as well.
