There is a new side bet at the Orleans call Banker Streak. I just wrote up a page about it.

Please click the link and let me know what you think. As always, I welcome questions, comments, and especially corrections.

The question for the poll is would you play Banker Streak?

Could use the existing display board.

The streak has its own counter looking at the rack card?

Wow. I can't imagine this bet getting repeated action. Only ~4.5% of the time the bet wins. And when it does win, it doesn't pay nearly enough to make it seem "worthwhile". I'd think it'd be much more popular if it paid out on a 3 streak minimum or maybe even a 2 streak. I think people are just going to lose so much so quickly they'll quickly stop playing it. If/when someone gets lucky early and hits a 4, 5, or 6 win streak, it will quickly go away.

But then again, with the board showing, and in my experience you see lots of streaks, that could be just enough to get the players to keep playing it, "knowing" a big banker streak is coming soon.

I've now read the terms of this wager, and deleted the rest of my comment.

Beets are underrated. This has been a hot topic of discussion in my circles lately.

If a restaurant has a beet salad, I'll almost always order it.

I've heard great things about roasting beets at home. Eager to try it.

I like the guy behind this bet and wish him nothing but success. However, this same idea was tried in Atlantic City about 15 years ago, in both baccarat and blackjack, and it crashed and burned.

Was it crashed and burned by AP's? What's the story, do U care to share?

Let's see how long this bet lasts.

I think it just didn't get played and they took it out.

I agree 100%. I love beets and will order a beet salad every chance I get.

On a related topic, I don't get why Americans are so big on lettuce salads. Have you ever tried eating straight lettuce? It doesn't taste like anything. Sure, the texture in your mouth feels like any crunchy but the taste is almost a big zero. I think what people really like is all the fattening stuff they put on the salad.

The lettuce provides the excuse to eat the bad stuff. Best of all the lettuce doesn't interfere with the wonderful tasty "bad stuff".

Don't know why people were making off-topic posts about beets even though they were interesting. Seems Miscellaneous would be a better thread.

Was sure surprised as all get out to see PaiGowDan making an off topic post until I finally realized that it was a play on a poker term and therefore one of them pun thingies. Usually humor is about as much beyond me as math is.

Jumping back on topic, Baccarat as offered in the UK is far superior than any other territory.

First you have the Fortune8 as offered by the Gentings chain. Grosvenor offered a smaller bonus starting at a Banker 6 streak (£50) [no additional side wager required]. All casinos in the UK pay 9-1 for the Tie bet, as well as offering Super Egalite or UR way Egalite. £5 on a Tie on #2 returns over £1000, as long as the odds seem, I've seen that hit many many times.

Some of you might remember that before I came up with my Poker For Roulette idea, I has a simpler concept called Hit It Again.

Banker Streak reminds me A LOT of Hit It Again.

The problems I had with Hit It Again are the same as some of the 'features' of Banker Streak. Namely:

- You could win more using a simple pressing strategy.
- If you use the pressing strategy, you'd hit the table max.

The table max is there for a reason. That same reason is one of the things that killed Hit It Again.

- The potential for a big jackpot award.

OK. The jackpot for Hit It Again was MUCH higher than for Banker Streak. I was told that the jackpot would kill the idea because (get this) casinos don't like letting go of large sums of money all at once.

Of course, I was told that before the introduction of the $1Million prize for a six card royal flush.

But I digress.

I think the pay tables are simple too unattractive and should include some type of payout for 2 in a row.

"Hit It Again" is a great name. You should consider trademarking it.

Not interested. But even if I were, don't you actually have to USE a trademark in order to protect it?

On an unrelated note, I often wonder how an animal would react if they knew what their name was. On the other hand, I recently thought up a great name for a race horse: The Fix Is In.

u can trademark it before a commercial use. U can also sell it, like a domain name.

That's common sense but also common sense being wrong. The nutrients in lettuce and vegetables are fat soluble, the fat is necessary to digest your meal. Americans also do not get enough fiber in their diets, especially our youth, who will pay with lower life expectancy. You're the actuary, so what do I know. I think you should eat a big salad with zero fat, do ten push-ups and make sure your kids dont believe that about salad.

Personally, the days I eat a salad with dinner, I feel so much better, have better energy, and think clearer, for hours. Salads lost favor in our household as I got older, always noticed feeling better when I was at my grandmother's( lived well past 100), but still couldn't change our routine getting home. I wasn't the grocery shopper, now realize things changed when the head grocery shopper changed in our household. If the main person cooking, or the main shopper doesn't like something, it's not being bought. Doesn't matter what they agree to, or agree is a good idea, they might not do what they say they will repeatedly. I think it cost my mother years of her life, gaining weight becoming a diabetic. Hunger and appetite grows for food when you're not eating a balanced diet, the body is begging for nutrition.

I think part of the avoidance is ecoli outbreaks that kill, I think we get scared to eat raw food.
I am a robot.

Since you asked:

Eggs often have salmonella on them, and in the US they are washed before being sold. However, washing them also washes off a natural protection on the egg that helps to prevent bacteria from penetrating the shell, so refrigerating them is a good idea in the States.

Pretty sure I got that right. The topic was recently addressed on a public radio show, one of the cooking shows, I believe.
