I was playing UTH this weekend and another player at the table made a 4x bet on something like A7o or K7o (I forgot the exact hand but it was a correct 4x bet hand). He won and the dealer told him how lucky he was. Then he asked him "Have you heard of Wizard of Odds?"

The player said he's heard of it, then the dealer asks "Do you know who runs Wizard of Odds? It's run by the casinos to make you lose your money."

I laughed and really wanted to tell the dealer what a tool he is.

I don't think so...

"All betting systems are worthless. However, for the mathematically challenged, here is a forum of your own."
The difference between zero and the smallest possible number? It doesn't matter; once you cross that edge, it might as well be the difference between zero and 1. The difference between infinity and reality? They are mutually exclusive.

Wow. I've actually had a few dealers refer me to WOO for correct strategies, but I've NEVER had one tell me it's run by casinos to make you lose money lol. Jesus I wonder if this was a rogue employee or if the casino itself is trying to pump this BS out to the community to stop players from learning how to properly play (and still lose) on their games.
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

Haha, I don't think he has bad intentions, he's just terribly uninformed. He gave me crap the first time I played with him, and I've heard him tell someone "AK is useless in this game". I just feel bad because I know a lot of new players will take the dealer's advice seriously.

I've often been told that casino employees wrote the book on basic strategy. Their proof? If the casinos were afraid of basic strategy, they wouldn't sell it in gift shops. I don't think the dealers are intentionally lying, just repeating what they heard.
The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction is supposed to make sense.

He may not have had bad intentions, but he would be liable for defamation per se if anyone cared or knew who the dealer was...

You can definitely tell which dealers/employees are gamblers themselves. I remember one former coworker who absolutely fit the definition of "degenerate". This dealer gave some of the worst advice to players I had ever heard.

I think about 50% of the casino dealers in Las Vegas (and 75% of the ticket writers working in the casinos' sportsbooks) would qualify for that description. Both parts.

I get that accusation from time to time in my Email. I never bother to deny it. If it were true, then it would be quite the conspiracy as plenty of legitimate sources agree with me on hundreds of games.

I was once talking to one of the more intelligent dealers I've run into, and mentioned WoO. He didn't think much of the idea of following wizard strategy, said that he knew a player who used such strategy for 3 card poker and would play practically all day long, and always lost a lot of money. I replied that the Wizard would never tell somebody to sit there and play all day thinking he could win. I guess that, even though a smart guy, he was thinking WoO was claiming the strategies would make you win.

I think this guy is probably a member here. IIRC someone posteted something simular.

It makes sense that dealers would spew this type of information. They have selective memory just like the players do. They think they know better than everyone so WOO must be owned the casino's.

There's probably a feeling of, "I'm a dealer I know best" It must suck to be a dealer yet you don't even know basic strategy for the game's you deal, yet some young kids whose studied a bit knows much more than you do about the game.

I have heard multiple dealers claim card counting doesn't really work.

It must suck to be a BJ dealer for year's and yet you can't beat the game yourself, but then some card counter come in and crushes it.

I've had plenty of in-person conversations with Mike, and I've seen Sheldon a few times at the Venetian or on TV, but I've never seen them in the same room together...

They are different people with different job responsibilities. Sheldon is only in charge of the Asian market and Mike has the Western territory. Shelton is more interested in slots and Raiders.

Just because he says he is no longer employed there, does not necessarily make it true.
