I noticed a new side bet in pai gow poker at the Red Rock last week. It simply pays based on the dealer hand. Please see my new page on Dealer Bonus for the details.

I think I'd play the Dealer Bonus instead of the Fortune side bet. Of course it seems like the dealer frequently gets stronger hands, but the house edge is 4.72% on Dealer Bonus and 7.77% on Fortune.
BTW, I just noticed on your Fortune side bet page regarding the progressive bonus that you say:
"The break-even meter (where there house edge is exactly zero) is $243,011.06. I have yet to see a jackpot get anywhere near this high."
According to the BConnected website, "Progressive is now over $274,567 as of June 3, 2016" at Boyd properties.

Not a fan of sucker bets. I wouldn't play it.

I believe it is a royal flush of one suit and a suited king and queen of one of the three other suits.

Hmmm. I'll have to check that out. As I recall, there are different pay tables, so maybe my site has a different one than the one you refer to.

It's so weird I always thought some of those bets were c Counterproductive from the player standpoint regardless of edge, cheering for the dealer to get a big hand is like betting on a dealer blackjack- you lose your bet to win the side bet. Foxwoods has a dealer side bet for the lack of a hand for the banker in pai gow/ if dealer gets ace high or worse it pays odds- but if the dealer gets a big hand you basically lose both bets- sometimes I wonder if game creators pay attention to the psychology of these wagers from a player standpoint

The thought process is it turns a bad event (the dealer turning over a big hand) into a better event now that you can get paid on it.

I was thinking along those lines as I was reading about this Dealer Bonus side bet. However, I'd think of it more like insurance, where if my hand loses, hopefully I still get paid from the side bet. I've never played the Pai Gow Insurance side bet, though.

I haven't been on the site in a while but just found this thread. I play a lot of Pai Gow Poker and there has to be a major error in the Wizards calculation of the probability of the 9 high in low hand. 3 of a kind, flush and full house payouts have all been reduced. The only thing added to the payouts is the dealer 9 high in low hand, and the house edge is lower than the fortune bet?
The Wizard shows the probability of the 9 high in low hand as roughly the same as a full house. In actuality it comes up nowhere near that amount, maybe 1/10 as often or so.
