This is a pretty rediulous question, but how does a craps table min impact the min bet required for everything in the middle of the tables, if at all? Can I make $1 center table bets at any table?

Yes. The posted minimums refer to the Line Bets. The center bets are unwise to make usually due to the high house edge but if you want to bet them, the only real limit is the denomination of the chips that the house makes available. There is therefore usually going to be a minimum bet of a dollar. Usually there is an unstated maximum on center bets that is somehow related to a maximum payout equivalent to the maximum posted limit on a line bet but I don't really follow the math on it.

While I rarely play at $15 tables, and never above $15, I have been curious about that too.

I forget where, but I stepped up to an empty $100 table just to ask that question. The junk in the middle was a $5 minimum - and you had to have action elsewhere.

I also stepped up to a $25 to ask if the place 6/8 is a minimum of $24 or $30. I was told that if I have other bets up and it's not too busy, they'll let it be $24.

Yeah, I'm certainly aware of that, so much so that I don't even know what the limits are even though I've played a fair amount of craps. There are no tables when/where I go that are less than $10, i'm just curious as to if I could play $1 bets on anything in the middle, if I was so inclined. Last time I was there no one was betting less than $5 on the center, but I forgot to ask before I left.

Just remember, most of the center bets have a house edge around 10% so you'll have the same expectation playing a $10 line bet each time as you would a $1 "yo" for example. Probably less variance too.

I wonder if the field is any different as far as minimums.

Sounds like that casino has wierd rules.

I've never seen any casino with $5 minimums on the middle, except at that $100 table where I went just to ask.

Certianly at a $10 table, they should encourage those lousy bets by allowing you to bet below the minimum, therefore $1 is normally fine.

Most likely it was a $1 and for whatever reason the only people playing the middle were betting $5.

I think that is the key - the table minimum is the minmum action required. I have seen a $2 C&E called "no bet" because the player that tossed it in had no line bet or other action. Most people have line bets, which have to be at least the table minimum, so there is no problem making a $1 bet in the center in addition to that.

I was playing at a table where the guy next to me was throwing down $2 max at anytime: $1 on the hard 6 and $1 on the hard 8 and the table min was $5. For reference, this was at Muckleshoot near Seattle.

It really pissed me off, especially when he started to rub elbows with me at a busy table. He got away with it because: occasionally he would place the 6/8 or it wasn't busy the entire time.

Field is the same as the Pass line min.

I got the feeling that at that particular casino, the action requirement was only at the high risk table.

Unless you want to make it for the dealers, then they will let you skate on a bet that is below the table minimum. Otherwise they tend to snap about quite promptly.
