How does the payout work for Banker with fractions ($0.25 etc?)

Planning to try a session or two if I can get out to Vegas this year. Time, money, low exchange rate so not as likely as last few years... Anyway, do they keep a record and charge it when you color up? Or round to dollar amounts? That could get messy playing $25 minimums...(maybe lower if $10 tables are available) which is where i am thinking my BR will put me.

Out here in the middle of nowhere, they track commissions with lammers on each banker payout. There's a rack of lammers; there's a place to stack the owed commission lammers for each player spot.

You can request to settle your commissions at any time; the house often requests players settle commissions at the end of each shoe or when leaving the table.

They also have 25 cent coins at the table, so they can settle commissions down to the nearest $5.

Otherwise, find a no-commission table (like EZ Baccarat). Should work out mostly the same.
May the cards fall in your favor.

in the video (about 8:40)

for Heather being a Las Vegas dealer, to me she touches the cards way too much after they have been dealt

Thanks, D.

So paid out even money with a lammer (of a set value?) against you.
Settle up "end of the shoe", got it... thought maybe after busting out over a long session of shoes that you might end up washing dishes rest of the night.

Hmmmm....

On a somewhat related note, let's say you win a couple hands and have commission lammers sitting there and then go on a losing streak.

Will they let you bet your last chip, or will they always insist that your working stack be enough to pay the commission lammers owed? (Or pay the commission before making that last bet.)

The commission lammers are of various denominations.

Expect to get lammered for 25c on a $5 banker win, $1 on a $20 banker win, $5 on a $100 banker win.

There may be house rules about $5 increments, to simplify commissions.
May the cards fall in your favor.

At Showboat in AC they used lammers, until they got fed up with people a) busting out and claiming to have no more cash, b) pretending they didn't speak English and/or not knowing what commission is, c) busting out and just walking away, d) winning a single (often large) bet and just walking away. I believe they eventually moved to taking it on every win.

Just as a complete outsider looking in, it would seem to me the lammers make sense in a Big Baccarat game because A) the bets are so enormous that you want your whales to be as comfortable as possible, and B) the amount of the commission will be large enough where whales may be less likely to walk out on it for fear of prosecution and/or exclusion. Then again with how the big casinos seem to treat their whales, I wouldn't put it past them to let it slide just to keep their business.

The Player hand is paid at 20:20 which I'm told mathematically reduces to 1:1. (You will have to take me word for this, I can't prove it).

The Banker hand is paid at 19:20. It is USUALLY accomplished by the dealer using a variety of lammers in a slot related to your seat.
After a while each dealer will visibly prove up the lammers into higher denomination lammers so that you and the camera can see your mounting commissions that represent each overpayment of 20:20 when it should actually be 19:20. That five percent "nick" each time adds up. A player has to make good his lammers prior to leaving but I find it convenient for me to pay off my lammers during the game. I pay off several times. So if I ever do forget, its likely to be a trivial amount.

I've heard of some casinos actually paying 19:20 but to me its an absurd waste of time. Lammers are used to make the game proceed quickly... THAT is how the casino makes its money.

Is there much etiquette involved to pay off mid shoe? No "shame faces" or "holding up the game, Mac!"?

I would prefer that then having to bust out the wallet at the end.

I don't get it. How can lammers be easier or quicker than paying 19:20?

Either way, you're still farting around, making change, or keeping track, of small amounts.

I guess you've never played baccarat before, where it's typically 5-10 minutes or more between hands.

There's plenty of time between hands, and usually you can just throw your chips in and point at the lammers or just say "commission" It's no different than leaving a blackjack table mid shoe and asking to color up.

It might have something to do with having a lot of reds, white, and (egads!) quarters lying around in front of players during play. It's not like craps where you can dump a lot of pesky silver on props and hops in-between crew & drink hostess tips to keep your tray clear for greens and blacks...

BTW:
1) nope, haven't played in real life yet. Wanting to try something new, even though I love craps.
2) a little scared with how well i can do on the WoO Bac simulator. Dump $9500 on Tie then play with $500BR.
3) Start to get a little shaky when #2 produces $86000 before i even start my game... Happened 2 in 5 starts.

Absolutely no problem if the crazy guy next to you is analyzing his scorecard, looking for a dragon.

I wouldn't settle every quarter or every dollar, but if it gets up to $5 or $10, sure, settle commission, if you want. (That'd be $100 or $200 of winning banker bets - which, if you're playing $10 a hand, should be about a quarter or half shoe.)
May the cards fall in your favor.

I haven't been in the top London casinos, but elsewhere nearly all in the UK casinos have 25p (or rarely 5p) chips for the commission. All payouts are asis. btw similarly for Pai Gow Tiles (which also uses 19:20 payouts). The dealers get quite used to it (you have to remember we used to have shillings, so some old timers even used 1/- per £1!)

In my opinion as a dealer, she's touching the cards appropriately, and not excessively. Notice that she straightens the cards once the two for each side come out, then adds the third card as necessary, and then pushes the winning hand forward. That's the preferred method, so I think it's fine.

My place takes the banker commission out immediately. It is definitely slower, because the dealer often has to fumble around with whites and quarters (or greens and reds on black or higher, etc). It takes just as long as it does on PGP, where I believe all casinos take out the commission immediately.

The benefit, like others have mentioned, is that the house never gets shorted the final commission settlement. Bac has never been known for its speed.

I forgot to mention that my place also only allows bets on banker to be in increments of $5 to avoid the whole rounding up or down of commission amounts. Player bets are the same way, too, but that is only for our convenience. Tie bets are allowed to use whites.

A lot of times I pay commission mid-shoe to get change so I can make side bets. I know I coud just ask for change but I like to take care of the commission at the same time.

Some casinos will stop you from betting your last bet if they don't know you have additional funds or if you don't have a credit/front money account.
