The new ACE bus service makes it much easier to get to downtown where you can find better rules. The El Cortez still has single deck full pay blackjack (on several tables). El Cortez is the original casino in Vegas, the only one that opened before the end of WWII. Don't be put off by the n'hood, they have good security.

Bottom line is the strip really won't give you good rules unless you play $25 minimum. Even at that you have to look. Go to the blackjack survey on the home page of this site and sort by House Edge. The lowest will be blackjack switch, but after that you will only find for $5 minimum El Cortez and Hacienda which you need a car to get to.

The rule at Hooters is never to sit near a dealer in orange shorts. Find one wearing flannel. If you want to talk with girls in orange shorts, buy chicken wings.

info on ace bus???

and yea hooters has a decent 2deck 3:2 10min
there are quite a few 6 deck 3:2 pretty low house edge tables on the strip. see the survey

Yes. Ellis Island. Good beer and food. Sure MainStreeStation has better beer but its downtown.
Not Hooters. Its a dump.
Stratosphere is a bargain: 3:2 and low minimums even at the poolside tables, but once there where else are you going to go.

Check out the Sahara's website, they have "dollar days" promos with $1 BJ

For info on ACE and other options search the web for "RTC Vegas" and go on from there. As I understand, on any curbside ticket vending machine you can get a 5 day pass valid on every bus route in Vegas, I forget what it costs.

The ACE and the DEUCE costs $15 for a three day pass. This pass includes both systems, plus you also have access to the entire network of regular buses (although you are unlikely to use any of these except to go to the Palms or Chinatown).

The ACE has four pickup stops on the Strip depending if you are the Southbound or Northbound side of Las Vegas Blvd.
(1) Mandalay Bay - Opposite Side of LV Blvd
(2) Excalibur - MGM Grand near Showcase Mall
(3) Bellagio - Paris
(4) Fashion Show Mall - Wynn
These ACE stops are 1/2 - 1 mile apart, which turned out to be the source of a lot of complaints. DEUCE stops are more like 300-400 yards apart.

There is also an ACE stop at the convention center, at the backside of Sahara, and several downtown locations including right in the middle of the Fremont Street Experience. The ACE stop is 3 blocks from the DEUCE stop on Fremont Street.

The start of ACE operations was supposed to mean that the DEUCE bus was supposed go from Mandalay Bay and end at Sahara Avenue, but due to numerous complaints the city still runs it to downtown. But the ACE is much faster and the same ticket is good on either bus. But since there are more DEUCE stops, you may not have to walk as far. Also the ACE is the only bus to go further south than Mandalay Bay. The DEUCE no longer goes to the car rental, the Town Center Mall, or the Premium Outlet store to the South.

The ACE now goes to both offprice outlet malls, one on the south end, and the other at downtown.

From what I've heard, the $1 BJ at Sahara only pays even money on a natural. Not a great game to play. Better to find a $3 3:2 game somewhere.

What the website fails to mention is that the $1 BJ does not pay 3:2.

It doesn't pay 6:5 either.

IT PAYS EVEN MONEY!

I didn't know that.

Still, as the wise man said, "You get what you pay for." At $1 minnimum I'd expect the most god-awful rules.

You and I were responding at the same time.

Sahara has 3:2 BJ on the other side of the room - at the $5 tables.

But there are other items on Sahara's $1 deal that are good bargains: $1 beer, $1 dogs, $1 shots. And weird as it is, that stuff is available closer to the $5 tables.
