Tomorrows Yankee game starts at 4PM and we have tix for Billy Idol at 8PM, which doesn't leave time to watch the game and ten drive to Mandalay Bay and get to the House of Blues.
Looks like we'll be heading there early and watch the game in the casino.
Was curious if anyone knew if we could be scoring free drinks in the Sports Book if I make a wager on the Yankee game., or just how their drink policy is in general. Two of us are Pearl level, other two don't have cards.

I don't know for sure, but you should get roughly 1 drink for every $100-200 bet.

If you want drinks for approximately three hours for four people, perhaps you should have the two cardless persons give you any money they choose to bet so your action will look more attractive to the casino.

Find a bar that's playing the game and has machines.

Slow play the machines.

Drink a lot.

You'll expect to lose money gambling, obviously, but it's cheaper than paying for drinks. Your mileage may very.

I don't know what kind of action you'd put down on the game, but ask for drink tickets if you don't get any, or if you do -- ask for more. Try to find a friendly lookin' bet writer.

Probably frowned upon, but you can probably just ask other people for their tickets. Obviously don't solicit them out of the blue. But maybe get in line behind a guy who looks like he's got some money. Ask him what he's betting on, agree with him, and perhaps gently bring up the tickets thing, like "ya know how I can get extra drink tickets? I don't bet much (as much as you), just want to have a few during the game. " might be enough for him to just give you some of his tickets or all of them. Also, probably wouldn't be tough to buy the tickets for $1-2 from random people who're leaving the booth.

You can probably even find some just laying around or in a trashcan if you're into that sorta thing. Trashcans are probably cleaner in a book than other places, since it should mostly just be empty bottles, losing tickets, parlay cards, futures sheets, etc. But you probably don't want to be seen digging through the trash.

I don't know what the money line or points lines are for any of the games. But baseball tends to have close ML's with a 10 cent difference between them. So if you can find something like -140 and +130, bet $140 on one side and $100 on the other. The favorite is more likely to win, and you break even. If the underdog wins, then you lose $10. But you have $240 in action. This is a guarantee-can't-win scenario, but your expected loss is $4.27 combined, and at most you'll lose $10. You can probably get more value than $10 in drinks (if you'd otherwise pay cash for them) anyway. Better to bet more money, depending on how many drinks and stuff you want. Do it for $500 and $700. Expected loss is about $21 and worst case you lose $50.

Of course you'd want to stagger your bets and/or have someone else put in the other side with a different writer.

Is it worth it? I don't know. Maybe. For some, no. For others, probably.

If time is not a problem just scout the cocktail waitress working the area and put some money in and play a hand while they come around, then wait until they come back.

If you want the drink ASAP play at the bar, but recently at strip casinos it's pretty slow since they check your machine for the required action.

Have you considered not betting on the game and instead using that money to buy a few drinks for three hours? Or betting less on the game, and using the other portion to buy drinks?

We've got ourselves a blasphemer here.

(sorta joking)

A $20 race wager could probably get you two drink tickets. They never seemed to care how many tickets I asked for (CET casinos).

Considering a lot of things. I'd just as soon watch the game at home, but the timing isn't right. I have no idea what MB charges for a drink , but I'm sure its more than I want to pay. Last time we went to the HOB, we sat outside on a penny slot machine , playing 27 cents a spin and got great service from a cocktail waitress who didn't care half of us weren't drinking, as she got a $10 tip per round of six drinks.
As the point is to watch and enjoy the game, that's not an option.
Appreciate all the suggestions.

Playing a show bet on a high priced favorite may not be the worst idea. Books are much more prone to give drink tickets on horse racing, as they don't care if you win or lose. They cut their cut as long as they take the bet.

I think they may be on the line for some negative-pool situations, but yeah this is what I was imagining. Mountaineer races 2 and 4-9 have ML 2-1 favorites or better.

Specifically, mountaineer race 2: the 4 horse. 7-5 favorite that has showed in his last three races, each of which were at a similar distance and against a similar/stronger field. If you put $20 on this horse to show, that should get you two drink tickets and most likely a $2-5 profit. Post time is 4:22 Pacific. Do the same for the odds-on favorite with 1-2m to post for any race tbh (but Mountaineer races 2 and 4-9 should have heavy favorites with less risk).

I always tell people the secret to free drinks in the sportsbook is horse betting. They're usually very generous with drink tickets for horses. Just make a couple of bets, and they'll just start throwing them at you.

Only pool they could possibly lose money on is a house quinella, and not many places offer that anymore.

When I was in the industry, the agreement with Nevada and most of the tracks was 19% of the handle on horse racing stays with the property. That's why comps are so much more on horse racing. All they need you to do is bet.
