Under in the Tigers/Twins is a little more intriguing. Price is their best pitcher, by a long shot. Price will give up no more than 2. I don't think that the Tigers score more than 5.

You pick a great number of games each day. Today you had 10 picks. I think most pro handicappers have many fewer picks per day. I'm thinking that your EV might improve if you limited yourself to no more than 3 games per day - the games that you feel most strongly about - where you perceive the greatest edge. How you bet and pick is your business of course, not mine. It's just a thought. Hope you don't take offense to my suggestion. It's very difficult to beat sports.

No offense taken at all. I may be up in age, but I certainly don't think that I know everything. I appreciate the input.
Since I do believe that you have to be consistent in your actions in order to be successful, I am going to take your advice at the end of the year, if I end up with a losing year. I'm getting absolutely crushed here, and have in the previous 2 years, around all-star time. I don't know why but I am now convinced that in future years I need to adjust for it. In the meantime I believe it will start turning around tremendously about 10 days after the all-star break and still believe that I will end up with a profitable set of picks for the year.

You were running SO hot thru end of June I was thrilled for you (on the +130 dogs). I hope you can pinpoint the issue; perhaps with 3 years of data charted you can see cut-off and resumption points estimated for best performance next year?

A lot of favorites lately. An intentional shift, or just what the same methodology points to now?

Hey DrawingDead, it's an intentional shift. I don't know if you have been following, but I am under the belief that the algorithm for +130dogs doesn't work around the all-star break. I came to this realization around the break. I have intentionally turned around the dogs and will continue to do so until at least Monday. It may go to Thursday.

I always knew that I was becoming more and more dependent on the computer. Today, with my internet service provider being for a few hours, it felt like I was in hell. Amazing. An apparent addiction.

I do follow the thread, but loosely without always seeing every post every day at times when I'm occupied with other things. So if you previously mentioned making the shift I may have missed it.

I see you experienced some of the same turbulence in your results near the all-star break as before, as I also have before. I did same thing with baseball this year that I've done in a few recent years, with essentially the same results: final ROI of +7.6% as of July 1. All of my regular-season baseball wagers are on moneyline dogs, every time, always, with not a single one on a ML favorite. In expectation of the all-star/mid-season Cuisinart effect I shut it down at the end of June, as I planned to this year, and aside from some infrequent occasional spot plays and following a few future wagers I made months ago I'm now done for the year.

For me, it is not only the period near the break that turns my baseball results into fruit salad, but also following that, extending through the trade deadline and into the late season when those who aren't in contention know it and are no longer pretending or dreaming much. I have no means of adjusting for that successfully, so I stuck a fork in it June 30.

Hey DrawingDead, I find your commentary very interesting. So your experience has been that all the dogs, from July 1st., do not do well?

In any case, I will begin picking dogs again in a few days. I have found that the +130dogs start winning again at some point after the all-star break. I am still trying to ascertain the proper point at which to turn on the algorithm again.

No. Just mine. Which are not all. And just not as well consistently enough to overcome the vig by a meaningful margin for me using the same approach as I do earlier.
