As I write this, the Pats are comfortably ahead, early in the fourth quarter. Assuming they go on to win, I believe this is where we stand:

Super Bowl Result
=================

Patriots defeat 49ers... marksam40 (102 points)
49ers defeat Patriots... marksam40 (104 points)

Ravens defeat 49ers..... marksam40 (104 points)
49ers defeat Ravens..... marksam40 (105 points)

Patriots defeat Falcons. edcollins ( 99 points)
Falcons defeat Patriots. steeldco. ( 99 points)

Ravens defeat Falcons... miplet ** (100 points)
Falcons defeat Ravens... miplet... ( 98 points)

** second tie-break over marksam40

Obviously, marksam40 is now the big favorite, easily. But if the Falcons can get by the 49ers, then I like my chances.

Current Standings. Having your 12 and 11 still is okay, but having a wildcard make it deep is better.

I suspect for some selections sets there is another selection set that will do the same or better, with the same set of results. I'm not sure about that, but it's possible. This system does seem to be slightly weak in that having a wild card win 2 games is a big advantage if you have them highly rated (in this case, Baltimore are the only team to have won 2 so far).

Dont expect updates from me until just before the super bowl, I am out of town and away from the spreadsheetsI have set up for this. Seems like I'll be close to last in my own challenge :)

Thirty seconds, TheCessPit!

If the bloody Seahawks would have won that game, I come in first place in 3:4 scenarios! I think the only way I could have lost would have been SF v. NE with SF winning.

I do want to thank you for setting up the competition, though!

I would say that I had a great time watching SEA/ATL as well as DEN/BAL and SEA/WASH and without this game, I would have had exactly 0 concern about who won those games.

When my wife was in the kitchen and heard, "For God's sake, throw it," she yelled out, "Are the Patriots on already?"

I yelled, "No, I'm watching the Seattle game, the Pats are next!"

She came in and stuck a thermometer in my mouth jokingly asking me if I was sick to care so much about how Seattle did.

Id have been happy woth any Seahawks related progression. Theres a lot of fans here, and I would say they are my second favourite team...

Wilson will be back. He got quality QB written through him.

As for the brady bunch. Another Pats superbowl is in my list of things I can do without. The AFC every year sends a team I cant be doing with. Indys win I think was the only time I have wanted an AFC winner in a decade.

Wilson is too small and has a huge chip on his shoulder. He thinks he can keep up with the likes of Cam Newton and RG3, both of whom are much better athletes. He will get injured seriously next season. The league is onto his go-for-broke running game, where he never slides or takes a knee. But he's definitely on the right team because Seattle's a team of cheating punks.

(sorry Face)

I might have lost value in the picks, but it didn't compare to the value saved by staying true to myself. No apology needed =)

And hell, hockey's back! All football means to me now is checking the scroll on the weekend to see if Brady's been turned inside out or not. /fingers crossed ;)

Ditto. Congrats. I admit my picks were
based on the lines at the time, none-
theless this was fun. So thanks to the
scorekeepers and moneymen.

I've played in the Goldenballs challenge
and my winnings, however small,
were donated back to the charity of the
day, FWIW.

I think the Golden Score would be 110 points. This assumes Baltimore wins the Super Bowl and that the player assigned 12 points to Baltimore. (Recall that Baltimore played in the Wild Card round, so a Super Bowl win gives them four wins.)

SF won twice, so you want to assign 11 points the 49ers.

Five teams each won once (Atlanta, New England, Houston, Seattle, Green Bay) so you would give them 10, 9, 8, 7, and 6 points, in any order.

(12 * 4 wins) + (11 * 2 wins) + 10 + 9 + 8 + 7 + 6 = 110 points.

If the 49ers win the Super Bowl, the max points possible, I believe, is 109 points. And if this happens you could have given 12 points to SF and 11 points to Baltimore or vice versa.

(12 * 3 wins) + (11 * 3 wins) + 10 + 9 + 8 + 7 + 6 = 109 points.

I concur with the current standings by EdCollins, and also that marksam can't be beaten. I will be paying my share of the winnings after posting this message.

Thanks everyone for playing, hopefully it was enjoyable!
