What I am calling the Fake Contrived Bonus round which I see all the time makes me want to punch all game developers in the throat.

For instance, what I would call the many versions of 88 games (because they start at 88 cents minimum bet) all have these jackpot bonus rounds where when you match any 3 figures/symbols, etc., it awards you one of the levels of Jackpot.

You go though the fakey process where you pick randomly to maybe hit the major or grand bonus. What always comes up almost every time is the Mini bonus.
It's not remotely based on odds of possibilities, it's just total pretense.

Now I wasn't completely keen on whacking a game developer until I came across a new version of this bonus. Not only did it make you go through the fakey bonus picking, but after you hit the mini bonus, it showed what was behind the unpicked spots. Now that's what really put me over the edge towards violence, they actually are pretending I was missing the higher bonuses each time. Now that's one truly sick MO FO who designed that game! You're dead to me. Don't ever be alone in an alley man, I'll mess you up if I find out who you are!

*you'd think I'd be upset about terrible odds or something, but no this what motivates a real beat down. I'll get you, one day, I will. Just you sleep with one eye open, game developer, I'm coming for you!

And there used to be more "real" pick bonus games. There is one that is still in most casinos. It is a 7 based slot reel with 5 progressives. Platinum is the top.

When the bonus round comes up, you match either 5,7,10, 15 free games @ 2 times pay or 25games @3 times pay. That's the way it should be, they are real picks for the number of picks available.

I feel the same way about the free play games that casinos have on kiosks. Local gives you 5 envelopes. I pick the bottom right every single time and every single time it is min or maybe 2x min. But then they show you what was under the others. Over then 60ish times that I have played Inhave also picked the same one and never has it been 1k. Seems like a long shot that the on I am picking has never been the jackpot. I guess if I picked the bottom left everytime I would have had the jackpot 15 times.
Expect the worst and you will never be disappointed. I AM NOT PART OF GWAE RADIO SHOW

Those games tell you that straight up in the rules. I agree they're cruel and people are foolish to believe it. Just imagine all the other games of the past which didn't reveal the truth like Outback Jack. I've never hit the major on them. I did see someone hit the 2nd level jackpot on the games you mentioned, Gold Pays, $29xx.00 on an 8 cent bet.

But, I thought it was common theory that if they SHOW you what was behind the Babies you didn't choose,(Fu Du Lae, 88 Fortunes) it's Legitimate. If they DON'T show you what is behind the Babies you didn't choose(Good Fortune), it's rigged.

I should clarify that the new version of a bonus wasn't another version of the those games, just a game I hadn't played before. But there do seem to be a lot of these games now.

That’s true. I always design games that are not rigged, and I like to show what’s behind the unpicked items. I’m certain there are regulations pertaining to this in some jurisdictions.

Why do you think the wheel of Fortune wheel is balanced? Seems like a lot of small prizes land there too.

True. But some fakery is worse than others. A girlfriend who likes a guy may put up a little more appreciation than it deserves with an over-small diamond because she knows it's all he can afford but she probably won't be so happy when he pretends it's an expensive rock, one of kind, and says he spent 4 times more than she knows it's worth.

Huh? And here I thought you'd go with the CLASSIC 'fakery' that Axel always hears... "Wait, I thought you said 6 inches...?!?!"

The only thing faker than that is "I have read and agree to the terms and conditions."
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

How do games with mechanical weighted wheels work?

I forget which game it was, but I got the bonus wheel spin and it landed on a $50k jackpot, like completely stopped. People were standing behind me and started screaming. At the very last second, it clicked 1 slot over to the $5 prize :(

That’s crappy. I would expect it to slow down, but not so slow that it would be physically impossible to reach the next spot if it were an actual wheel.

The outcome is predetermined based on different weights for each slice. Then, the servo motor stops at the right spot.

Not 100% true.

On Poker machines (at least in Nevada and New Jersey) if there are cards shown, there has to be a fair chance to select any card remaining in the deck, and the deck has to have the proper composition. The only way casinos can change the percentage is by changing the amounts on the pay table. At least these machines can be totally trusted.

The 88 games bonuses are not truly contrived, because if you have a situation where you trigger two progressives at once (that would be really rare), then the bonus game is used to determine which one you win.

I refuse to play those stupid progressive machines where the bonus round is random, unless the frequency is quite high. Not a fan of being in a casino for an undetermined amount of time. Quick hits is the best, if you hit the symbols, you get paid, no picking or anything stupid to win the progressive.

I really hate the slots where you need 3 bonus symbols to get the free spins. 2 symbols always come up and it starts making exciting noises waiting for the third but it rarely comes up. This is mostly true on IGT machines. The new game Scarab is the worst. Probably every 3 spins 2 bonus symbols show up but somehow the third never comes. I've only gotten the bonus twice. It's downright deceptive. It's wrong not just because it fools you into thinking you were so close to a bonus but also because the 2 symbols come up so often that they end up being bonus blockers where they don't pay anything and "block" other line pays.

"Bonus blocker" Yes, that activity needs a good term. It might need a more precise term, as the bonus symbol keeps a payline from connecting but doesn't come up as a bonus either. It's like a non-prize payout blocker.

It's like if you saw a pile of money 20 feet in front of you, and suddenly the Publisher's Clearing house guy shows up blocking your way, and he doesn't even have check. By the time he moves, the pile of money is gone.

AS for the 2 symbols constantly hitting but not the third. Might as well just make the third sound this until it actually hits. Just go ahead and troll the player!

Btw I assume the coding for 2 bell dings without the third is something like 2 symbols hit every 1-10, so they often ring one after another and third symbol only is coded 1-100.

Whereas, non-smarmy coders who aren't from smarmyville would let all symbols each play out under equal odds.
