In Atlantic City,Indiana,Ohio,La,Biloxi,Tunica you must turn your cards over

Not true in Atlantic City, or at least not typically true in Atlantic City. I haven't been to every single place. I guess there may be exceptions or possibly dealers or floors who don't handle this correctly.

This thread should be renamed "Is it mandatory to show cards in a cash game?" :)

The story could work if he said it out of order or they were both almost all in and he simply misspoke. The end of hand card reveal does sound odd, but people play crap hands all the time because they saw WSOP on tv and tournament players can't wait for top hands to play it. Doyle Brunson claims his favorite hand is suited connectors like 56s, but I'd take AA over that anyday. The only benefit to suited connectors is when it makes a straight or flush, it's not as obvious and a pair might think you're bluffing, even all in. So 74s could be a covert win and could make a straight or flush, but it's nothing in a preflop showdown. I blame TV.

You only have to show your cards in a tournament,if both players are all in before the flop. Not in a cash game.

I've always known for you to be able to muck or not show after a all in call cash game. Tournament play....flip m over!

I tuned into 'a fishy tale'.
No fishing.... Just Poker.
And then a disagreement over what the rules are generally here and there.
No doubt you can work it out and everyone walks away knowing they were right ...

We needs us a fishy thread, this one isn't it ;-)

It can be referred to as a "fishy" tale.

Fish. Noun. An inexperienced or unskilled player, especially such a player who loses significant amounts of money; live one.

This can describe the person in the original poster's story who went all in preflop with 7-4 suited.

After all, OP did say a pro player once said, "The Bellagio poker room is like shooting fish in a barrel."
