Not tournament play only sir, not sure where you're playing. But most cash games when you're heads up both players turn their cards over prior to the flop.

In Atlantic City,Indiana,Ohio,La,Biloxi,Tunica you must turn your cards over

I can personally verify a couple of these are incorrect. In cash games you "may" turn your hands over once all in, but places do not require it. Most players hold their cards face down that way they can muck if they lose and not even show.
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

I tried to say that as I have played in most of those places. Floor supervisors quite often in random casinos can be quite oblivious to the proper rules. Outside of Vegas the poker bosses are hit or miss.

Wrong! I play cash games in Vegas 3 times a week. The only rule is,I was supposed to show my cards first because I was the aggressor, I went all in.The other player showed his cards first maybe out stupidity or a possible strategy to catch more action when he really has made hand. Or maybe he thought I was playing 7 2. Lol. I've seen heads up where the aggressor shoves on the river, gets called and then instantly mucks. I wouldn't make up a story like this. With a mix of tourist and grinders you witness and experience a lot of crazy shit out here.

I tuned into 'a fishy tale'.
No fishing.... Just Poker.
And then a disagreement over what the rules are generally here and there.
No doubt you can work it out and everyone walks away knowing they were right ...

We needs us a fishy thread, this one isn't it ;-)

Maybe I should rename the title "a donkey tale"

If he was dumb enough to show then maybe dumb enough to know he could muck.
