That's a darn rich jackpot. Bicycle Casino, Hustler, Commerce here in LA sometimes get up to about 100K. Pechanga had a $243,000 bad beat jackpot this past September. I wrote about it here with pictures: http://www.alanbestbuys.com/id242.html

But 300K ?? Wow, that is really rich.

It got over $400k at Harrah's (now Hollywood) STL a few years ago. Quads beaten is a much tougher requirement than any Aces full of tens, jacks, etc. This is also why Pechanga got up to $243k as well.

Straight flushes ... will not count for this bad beat.

It's normal that you need a pocket pair for your quads to count. But why won't a straight flush that uses both hole cards work? That BEATS quads.

Note: The Bad Beat is linked at Caesar's properties in Altantic City. It's currently at $486,043. It got to over $800,000 a few months ago. If you're in a hand in any of their 4 poker rooms when it hits, you get a share, regardless of which room it hit in.

On a side note, I was recently told that, similar to the difference between a "Set" and "Trips", a four of a kind that uses three board cards is NOT calls "Quads." It's merely "Four Of A Kind".

Because Motor City is retarded, imo. If a straight flush is involved, it would invoke the crappier Aces full of Kings jackpot they have.

And retarded rules.
Quote: rules

Any qualifying hand for the Bad Beat Jackpot must use both hole cards. Kicker in hand must tie or beat the board.
Both the winning and losing player’s hole cards must contain a pocket pair.
Three Aces on the board will not qualify anyone for the Bad Beat.

Um.... Quads that use a pocket pair, do not have kickers.

Although I'm not sure if they'd understand their own rules, I think that should be possible - they don't specify that you need a pocket pair for their normal BBJ, just for their quads BBJ. So you've got to use two hole cards, but in the second (normal BBJ) it's possible, even if it's unlikely, that you could end up using your second card as a kicker to qualify. As an example - Ks9s or As9s vs 10cJc with a board of Qc Kc 9d 9c 9h. That becomes quad nines with a King or Ace kicker vs a Straight Flush.

I don't really like that their are two separate jackpots. The way it reads, you should win both jackpots if you win the quads, but I doubt that's the case.

Except that violates that pocket pair rule.

"Any qualifying hand for the Bad Beat Jackpot must use both hole cards."

As far as I could see, the pocket pair rule was for the Quads over Quads BBJ, which seems to be seperate from the regular BBJ.

You apparently can win the other jackpot without a pocket pair. Aces full of Kings beat, as long as both players use their hole cards and three Aces on the Board doesn't qualify.
