It seems they were Irish owned but licensed by some "vest pocket island" with lax incorporation laws and that they operated in the USA using USA players but ran the usual gauntlet of cash transfers and US attorneys going after any firm that actually lived up to paying its debts rather than merely promising to do so.

On a side note, will post some trip reports and updates about my time in Vegas soon, work is hell.

Full Tilt is saying they will re-open within a day and operate unlicensed. They are removing all the Alderney license info from their site. I don't think this is gonna work for them though, MoneyBookers has already dropped them.

Dear XXXXXXX
As a Moneybookers customer, you already know you are the most important part of our business. We always make sure you receive the safest service.

For this reason we have stopped accepting deposits made to Full Tilt Poker.

There are extraordinary circumstances behind this situation which are beyond our control. We will not comment on these, just take appropriate action that protects our customers.

We have requested that the Moneybookers logo be removed from Full Tilt Poker, but cannot do any more to make sure it is not displayed. Moneybookers is no longer available from Full Tilt Poker, and you will receive an error message if you attempt to use our service there.

We want you to continue to enjoy your gaming with Moneybookers, and recommend you have a look at our gaming promotion page.

As we have stated, this is an extraordinary situation, and we will try to have all connected issues resolved as soon as possible.

Should you have any questions, please contact our customer support.

Best wishes,

Your Moneybookers Team

Well, welcome back, Croupier! I thought something must have happened to you -- no posts in well over two weeks, since way back before WoVCon. You have been missed around here.

Thanks. Computer problems in Vegas, and work conspired against me, still catching up.

Full Tilt is supposed to be back up and running and licensed by Kahnawake Gaming Commission soon. This really is a black mark on Kahnawake in my opinion. How can you step in and license these guys when the founder is under indictment, they've lost their current license and have no plan to pay back US players?

Hey, its like when a Mob family loses a bookie joint, another Mob family steps in and takes over. They're very clannish..

You are more confident than me. I do not think U.S. players will be paid anymore. Unless the rumor of Jack Binion buying out Ray Bitar is true, if Binion gets control then a lot of things will change for the better.

I'm glad nobody asked to bet me on that one.
