New Craps Play

I'm going to try this one out at MGM when I go to Las Vegas in late September:

Place six and eight for $30 each.

Hit: toss in a buck, and press to $ 48 each.

Hit: Make it look like $64 across.

OK, at that point I have my original bet back, plus I've locked up $25.

Alternate press, same bet on each number til seven out.

I'm a dyed in the wool come bettor, but have fun with that system. It should make some money if you catch a nice roll.

If you play this way your dealers are really going to love you -NOT-. I hope you do not play this way on a busy table.

Lets see---

Place the six and eight for $30 each

Hit: The dealer cuts out a green ($25) and 2 red ($5) chips to pay you. You throw in a buck and ask the dealer to press both to $48 each. Now the dealer has to take back the green and 2 red chips, cut out 6 red and 5 white and with you buck press both bets $18.

You hit again and you want to make it look like $64 across. Dealer cuts out $56 in the come to pay you. Now dealer has to take down your bets on the 6 and 8, take $64 out from your place bets and payout, hands $64 to the box, hands the rest off to you, now he has to go to his stacks and set you up with $64 across. Now if it is a busy table, the dealer is doing all this crap while the next players he is supposed to be taking care of are getting impatient waiting for their bets to be resolved.

This betting system is a sure fire way to screw up an entire craps table.

A good dealer should be able to figure out this system after the second or third time you do it. I don't think it would be a problem.

Make that after the FIRST time you do it.

Also, you can help the dealer out: State your intentions before he starts cutting chips.

And the occasional tip doesn't hurt.

Absoultely, a good dealer should be able to figure out the system after the first time it is done but that is not my point. If the table is slow, it should not be a problem, but trust me, if the table is busy, this system will not only piss off the dealers but the other players as well.

Too darned bad. If they don't want my business, I walk. Where I play, they're not the only game in town.

I've played on busy tables, and unless the dealer is a tard, that's not a hard setup at all...

I concur - I've done place 6/8 presses very frequently, often involving oddball amounts like $42 each. I start out with $12 each then press both to $18, $24, $30, $42, $60. All you have to do is announce your press before the bet is paid off, and the dealer will just set the bets properly and give you the change. Any dealer who can't handle that shouldn't be there.

I'm no newbie to a craps table.

I would tell him my intent before he starts cutting out my payoff, about the time he is finishing paying off the bet adjacent to mine, if any.

Oh yeah, I tip, also.

Not enough to be "George," but enough that sometimes "mistakes" are made in my favor, like the dealer "foregets" to take down a come bet on a come out natural.

I play a very conservative game of craps. If I hit the 6 or 8 for $35 and hit it again for $56, (giving me a profit of $91) I would take my bets down and wait for the next shooter.

After two hits, you said you locked up $25. I locked up $91. It would take you 5 more hits on the inside numbers (5 x $14 = $70) or 4 hits on the 4 or 10 to make more than $91. It would take a total of either 6 or 7 place bets to get more than $91. Once in a while a shooter will do it, but it doesn't happen very often.

I rarely come down completely, but that is just me.

Many times I throw in a regression to lock up a profit.

This system employs a regression.

Will it work?

Maybe ... if I'm lucky.

I'm not saying it's any better than any other method (well, I would say it is better than playing big 6 / big 8), it does however seem to suit my style of play.
