Thanks ThatDonGuy, 7Craps, ChumpChange, & 100xOdds.
You all were helpful resolving my question on Dark Side play. I have one more question that I need your imput on:

I'm playing the Dark Side strategy and it appears I should be playing the Right Way because every roll is hitting one of my DC numbers....I'm losing my shorts (so to speak).

I know I can move my Don't Pass bet to the Pass Line. Can I now proceed, leaving the two or three Don't Come bets where they are and just begin playing a Place Bet strategy--on all the other numbers. So, does this mean that if the 7 rolls my remaining DC bets win, and I would lose whatever Place Bets I had made?

Also, say I've got DC bets on the 4, 8, and 9. Can I also Place Bet on these same numbers? Depending on the bet value on these numbers, it seems like it will be a push most likely. Am I thinking correctly? if the 7 rolls I win the DC bets but lose the Place Bets. And conversely, if the Place Bet number is hit I win the PB and lose the DC.

Also, is there anything I need t tell the dealer about my change from the DP to the Pass Line

Thanks,
Dick

Each of the bets that you mentioned has no effect upon any of the other bets. The rules permit you to have a Place bet to win, a Place bet to lose, a Buy bet, a Lay bet, a Come bet with Odds, and a DC bet with Odds, all on the same box number at the same time. You will of course attract attention from the Boxman but you will be within your rights.

All DC bets and the Don't Pass bet can be removed at any moment, as can all Odds bets, all Place bets to win or to lose, and all Buy and Lay bets. Once they are removed, only DC bets and the Don't Pass bet cannot be replaced.

The above discusses only rules. The wisdom of simultaneous play of opposite bets is another matter.

both strategies are losing strategies
especially the longer you play them. does not matter what side either you jump from.
I say do what makes you feel the best while playing.

I know I can move my Don't Pass bet to the Pass Line.

That is really NOT what you are doing. Once a point has been established, any bet on the Don't Pass can be picked up by the player. That ends that event for the DPass wager that was there.
Now you are free to make any other bet you wish.
Once the point is established, every casino will allow you to make a pass line bet. no problem.

many will say the math says not to do that, but
if it makes you feel better while you play

do it!
just let the Dealer know you are making a pass line bet after the point is established.
that makes both of you on the same page.

remember to tip your Dealers for good service too. They only make min wage (I used to be one)
and at the Wynn now I read, they do not have to share their tips with suits.

that is why Dealers do NOT wear suits while dealing

If half of your Don't bets get resolved every 4 rolls, make your 2nd Don't bet on the 5th roll, and your 3rd Don't bet on the 10th roll. Hopefully the come-out 7's will favor you.

Never be afraid to confuse your dealer.

table limits are per bet, not per number.

Being on both sides of number is legal but foolish.

Thanks for the good, concise, explanation to my question. I've watched about every youtube video on Craps and none get as specific or detailed as I need. Your last sentence highlights the doctrine of "Keep it Simple Stupid." I don't know about the dealers, but I'd have more trouble than it's worth keeping tract of "simultaneous play of opposite bets..."

7craps,
Thanks, I understand----I think.
I pretty much can do whatever I like as far as betting once a point has been established---with the exception of going back on the DP.

Good advice--I always tip my table dealers. They do great job reminding me abut "buying bets" or placing odds, if I've forgotten to put odds.

Interesting tidbit about why dealer don't wear suits while dealing. This is a good website (W of Vegas) where folks can share ideas and other stuff.

Thanks again,
Dick

ChumpChange,
Now here is an excellent strategy that just might work well. I'll experiment doing this and see how it works out. If the 7 is rolling predictively every 4 to 6 rolls, I wouldn't use this strategy, but if it seems never to roll, this system might work just great.

Thanks for this idea,
Dick

FleaStiff,
You are a good man. To the point. Instructive (table limits are per bet, not per number). Honest (....is legal, but foolish). and
Humorous (never be afraid to confuse your dealer).

Thanks for reminding all of us to keep it simple, and have fun with Craps.

On WinCraps, which always freakishly monitors my non-autobet play like there's a ghost in the machine, I switched from $6 Don't Pass with $30 odds to just $30 Don't Pass with a progression of $10 on a win, and a $30 DC with no progression on the 5 & 10 count. Instead of going up and down $150-$200, I went straight up to +$710 in 32 rolls. Beginner's luck, don't expect it to last. That would turn my $60 buy-in into $200 at the $6 DP stakes at the tables, which would be a refreshing change for once.

Although humorous that part about confusing the dealer is the most important.
It is their job to watch your play, figure out your style, keep you happy, keep you from getting confused or making inadvertent lapses.
They have to work as a team to get tips and that means not taking offense if some player doesn't know what he is doing or forgets his odds bet or something. They work for the casino but must never forget that if they want to make any real money they have to keep working for you.

FleaStiff,
My experiences with the Craps table dealer teams is exactly as you put it. They're good about asking me if I want to place odds on my Pass Line bet when I've forgotten to do so, they're good to clarify a question that might come up, they're good at remembering me when my daughter was with me and asking where she is and when is she coming to play again?
You know, it's the little things that dealers notice about you and a definite factor in making this game fun.
I can certainly respond to their kindness by appreciating them and tipping well---and I do.

Thanks for your follow up note,
Dick

PS---My daughter and I are hitting the Casino next Monday and my grandson and I are going back on Thursday. This will be his first time. Who ever thought that a Casino game could bring families together? of course, I know I have some responsibility to family to teach them to play within their budgets knowing full well they can win, as well as lose.
